Hi all, I am in the process of applying for my citizenship, however I have a concern, there's a derogatory remark on my credit report that negatively affected my credit score and history. Will having a bad credit affect the decision of my citizenship? Moreover, is it possible to apply for OSAP (student loans) in the future with a bad credit score? Hoping for your insights. Thank you so much!

No. They do not check you credit background to approve your citizenship. Applying a student loan can also apply while you are a PR. Even if you have a bad credit. Your eligibility depends on the nature and severity of your credit issues. Your remark will show when you apply for OSAP but it has nothing to do when you apply for citizenship.
