No, its my husband's file.. we just called them yoday for 1st time.. didn't asked for gcms notes.. agent said background security still in progress.. they do security check in canada or back home???

Its outside security checks.. With CSIS

U should get GCMS notes from both ircc and cbsa

Hi guys I am about to submit my Citizenship application. My name is very long. Basically my father's name is also attached with my name on my Indian passport's first name. I want to remove my father's name from my name. Is it possible to do so? I have a Canadian driver's license and a heath card where only my name is there. Can i use those IDs for a reference. If not, Suggest me a right process to do so.

What does your school / university degrees say ?
If everything is ONLY your name and only the indian passport is wrong .. better to change the indian passport ... otherwise these things will create delays later on ... that is my opinion.

My each and every documents have the name as the passport - My name with my father. I think its better I will the name leave as is. Thanks for your advice. On my PR card its the same name. I will try to get the name changed may be after I get the Canadian citizenship.

yes i would advice to leave it as is ... if you change now it will delay everything ... go with what you have and then you can change later on

Unless you officially remove the name through a Name Change in your home country, what is on your passport is the correct and complete information. The drivers license and medical card are not identity documents nor travel documents. Use your full name as it is listed in the passport or you will certainly meet difficulties in the application process.

That may be easier but up to you. I see no harm in trying if you can present reasonable documentation that you use your 'new' name, such as revised IDs. But no guarantees.

I have two questions here,
1) how much time does e-certificate take after taking oath ( in past few months)
2) is rescheduling the oath ceremony 2nd time risky? I am traveling and both of these dates are not suitable for me.

Unless you officially remove the name through a Name Change in your home country, what is on your passport is the correct and complete information. The drivers license and medical card are not identity documents nor travel documents. Use your full name as it is listed in the passport or you will certainly meet difficulties in the application process.

These bolded points are either not true, or debatable.
-There is not, as far as I'm aware, ANY documented or specific law or reg - in Canada at least - that a passport, in particular a foreign passport, is some 'dominant' or controlling source of true/final definition of one's name. It would be a legal nonsense in Canada, because Canadians are not required to have passports, and there is no central national registry of names. (Civil law is a provincial responsibility).
-Change of name is a provincial responsibility, and the only requirements for that are that the individual be resident in the province for a certain period of time - again, no requirement that it be reflected in one's foreign passport or 'approved' by a foreign government. A resident of Canada is ... a resident of Canada, and can use legal facilities like change of name.
-A photo-bearing driver's licence is in actual fact an identity document, in every province I'm aware of. In most, you can get a 'photo ID card' (various names), but you are NOT allowed (all cases I'm aware of) to have a photo ID card and a driver's license - demonstrating that it very much is considered an identity document.

I will agree that in most cases, it would be best for applicants for citizenship to apply for citizenship using their name as shown on their PR card. But it's not formally required, just that you'll have to show that they should use your 'new' name (with supporting docs).

Another route would be to apply for a PR card under the change of name procedures - but that would likely take longer than changing your name under provincial procedures, and a legal change of name (appr'd by the relevant province) is usually going to be faster (and definitely would be accepted for citizenship app).

Why Did your background passed at the end? Was it under csis screening?
