(Apologies for stealing the thread, but I am planning to submit my citizenship application in the next few days, so I would really appreciate anyone's kind help and suggestions!)

Hello everyone,

As I complete my online Canadian citizenship application, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. I have a few questions about how to enter my status history in the form correctly:

  1. Study permit extensions – I had two study permit extensions after my initial study permit. The online application seems to only allow one extension. How should I properly record the second extension?
  2. Maintained (implied) status – I applied for my PGWP a month before my study permit expired (February 2022). It was approved a few months later, which means I was on maintained status between my study permit expiry (March 2022) and my PGWP approval (July 2022). How should I record this period in the application? Should I add a separate status entry, or explain it in the supporting documents section?
  3. Visitor status – I also held visitor records (visitor visa) with extensions during my stay in Canada (similar to my study permits & extensions). Do I need to include these in the application, or is it sufficient to only show my study permits and PGWP?
Thanks a lot!

Ahhh been a while since I was last on this forum! It's giving flashback of 2023 when I did my PR and used this platform as a support group as there was a huge processing delay from IRCC back then. Hope the processing time is not too bad this time :)

Hi all, I need guidance. I became a PR in august 2023 and now eligible for citizenship, however my passport expired in May 2024. I did not renew because I am not traveling out of Canada. Do I renew it before I send my application?

what should we expect after the AOR?
Another long wait for next milestone (per timeline trend currently) :). Jokes apart, next initimation would be either for FP request/BG completion or Test invite (Assuming, IRCC doesn't make any additional document request).

I guess, you can apply with an expired passport. If there's a gap where you didn't have a active passport during your 5yr eligibility period (Period of 5 years preceeding citizenship Application submission date. Example if you're planning to submit citizenship application on 5th Sep 2025, your eligibility period is 4th Sep 2020-5th Sep 2025) , the application offers a space ("If you do not have a travel document or passport that was/is valid during your five (5) year eligibility period or if there is a gap between your passports, please explain why here.")to explain why you didn't have an active passport one during the time your passport expired and citizenship application submission date. (if space is not enough for explanation, attach a letter of explanation in optional documents section.)
