Hello, I'm a recent master's graduate on an open work permit. However, I work for a US company as an independent contractor in a TEER 1 role. Will this count for an application for SOWP?

So are you self employed? If so no. Can try with your paystubs
My salary is approximately $60,000 CAD/yr. Can I include this in my spouse's application, even though I'm a contractor?
You are considered self employed if your payslip doesn't have CPP/EI/taxes deducted, and you don't get T4. So there are rules for self employed on the SOWP site.

Confirming I would be technically considered self-employed. Okay! I'll look at the site for details here.
I have also looked into EoRs, but those are looking very expensive for my company.
