Hello
I got rejection today for my parents.
Our family income is 193K.
Officer mentioned 2 reasons.
1. Purpose of your visit is not consistent based on the detail given in the application.
2. Applicant did not submit Proof of relationship between applicant and Host/Sponsor.

My question is
1. Should I submit new application with Proof of relationship or submit reconsideration request ?
2. Should I wait for few months before reapplying ?

I screwed up the application for my wife's parents and forgot to include to LICO calculation. It was rejected for not including that. Submitted a new application with all the required documents and it was approved 2 days after submission. With the backlog at IRCC for reconsiderations, appeals and every other form of arguing justifiable rejections taking months, I think people forget that spending $100 for a new application is often a much quicker result.
We reapplied the next day.

Did you apply with same documents or you updated docuemnts like Bank Statements, Paystub etc ?
Agree, $100 is not big deal for me as well but only thing is it takes 4 months to get decision. Also, I have to prepare updated documents and it takes time.

Sorry to hear about the rejection. May I know when did you apply? How much time it took to get your decision?

Replied the day after receiving the rejection and applied with the same documents (but updated the application to include a visa refusal) andadded the LICO calculation (id suspect birth certificate in your situation). We applied from Indonesia. Parents had no real income to speak of, no travel history and minimal ties. We reviewed the refusal letter carefully before reapplying to make sure we had addressed their concerns. The initial refusal took about 4 weeks after initial application date to receive. Like I said, 2 days after resubmitting we recieved approval. *Make sure you adjust the new application to include your parents having a refusal and the reasons from the refusal!* if you don't you'll end up with another refusal and potentially a PFL for misrepresentation.

What did you put as purpose of visit? Assume you mean NOA2024 income. Although wasn’t a reason for rejection listed done confuse current salary and NOA income from previous year. Would probably order GCMS so you hopefully get more information on refusal reason 1 before reapplying so you can address any concerns.

Purpose was family reunion, to celebrate our baby's 1st Birthday and to visit different tourist places accorss Ontario.

We just stated they were coming to visit and spend time with their daughter. Made sure the duration of the stay was longer than 6 months, but not excessive (I think we said 9 months). We included their bank balance (under $3k) and property documents.
My gut feeling that your first refusal item is simply related to not proving you are related. Ours was 1) insufficient funds and 2) failure to include proof of income. When you look at the missing LICO calculation, number 1 makes sense. In your case, no proof of relationship leads me to believe that when you prove they are your parents, "1) Purpose of your visit is not consistent based on the detail given in the application", will be resolved as well (I.e. no relationship proof, inconsistent reason to visit). Just my $0.02 brain analysis.

I agree with you. I wish they would have requested Proof of relationship instead of rejecting it but it is what it is.

I agree with you. I wish they would have requested Proof of relationship instead of rejecting it but it is what it is.

It’s a TRV. Not reasonable given the volume of application or cost of TRV to ask for additional information. Deny and people can reapply with their complete application. Birthdays also not great reasons to travel unless it involves a very big elaborate celebration especially given potential processing delays and longer visit request. Family visit is a better and more general reason. Assume you specified places in Ontario where you would like to visit and the list is reasonable.
