years as in more than 1-2 years? that sounds terribly slow :(
Do you know what happens if we no longer employ our care giver at that time we are not sure if we will need a caregiver after another year or so. It seems very unfair to keep someone waiting for that long for a PR after they have met the requirements of the program

Yes can be longer than 1-2 years. The whole program is a disaster and also filled with fraud. They still haven’t finished the previous program so tough to predict this one especially with smaller PR quotas in general.
 
If I come to Canada with a three-year work permit through the SUV program, can I switch to a study permit to study nursing and obtain a license? If, by any chance, the SUV program immigration fails, I will then apply through the EE channel.

SUV is a PR program. You cannot switch to a study permit. You need LOA, PAL, funds etc. and have SUV work permit makes no difference. You need to justify why you cannot take nursing in home country.

Isn’t it possible to do part-time, as long as u can prove it wont affect ur ability to discharge ur original work duty
