I had to withdrawl my citizenship application recently and not able to start new citizenship application through CIC page. The citizenship tracker has the status updated as Withdrawl but on the CIC page for online citizenship application portal, it is still stuck into Application Submitted screen that says -
Application(s) submitted!
This is not your acknowledgement of receipt (AOR)
An AOR confirms that we’ve started processing the application(s).
You’ll get your AOR
  • after all applications are submitted and
  • we check that they’re complete
Application for the citizenship withdrawl in June end

Any idea from the group when I would be able to re-apply using the CIC Online portal for the Citizenship Application and how long would it take for them to reset the old application screen and provide me the access to start a brand new citizenship application?

Looking forward for your thoughts and inputs

Thank you

Are you using the same email? Because my guess is that they updated the application itself but forgot to close out the old portal.

Might be better to see if you can start a new application with a new email address.

I faced a similar issue. I submitted the new application with a different email. The other issue I still have is that I can’t create the tracker for the new application, as I think the old account blocks me from doing so

How long has it been? I think in my case I had to wait beyond the expected maximum time to be able to make the tracker - I was an April applicant and only got access in July (or perhaps it was near the end of June). This is my first app.

I received the AOR about 10 days ago and the invitation to the tracker 3 days ago. I believe the issue in my case is the existence of an older tracker

I got AOR far longer before I got access to the tracker. If this was the only thing you had, then I'd think that you're still within the usual timeframe before access.

For me it was the opposite though - the email inviting me took longer to arrive, but I was in the tracker before I got the email.

I agree, that seems likely. Devil's advocate though - perhaps the email invite was sent early by mistake and you just need to wait another week or so to get access?

No harm in raising a webform in any case - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/web-form.html

They can take a while to get back to you so probably the sooner you raise one the better.

why did you guys withdraw?
I can't speak for the OPs here, but one good reason why is because one miscalculated the physical presence and is actually short (e.g. mistakenly counted some non-qualifying visitor time or time outside of status, or misremembering when a vacation from years ago took place).

In that case, the original application will fail for being short, but it will take a long time to get to this step (perhaps not until a year). In the mean time you can't submit a second application while the first one is still open. So it instead makes sense to withdraw and then submit a new one once enough time has passed as that will be faster (e.g. b/c one is only short by a week or so).
