Question guys: Are we really have to wait for 2 business days atleast after the oath ceremony and apply for a Canadian Passport ?
In the email I received related to my Oath, it states this:

Please keep in mind that you must wait a minimum of 2 business days after your citizenship ceremony to apply for a Canadian Passport.

Can anyone share their experience or weigh in your thoughts pls ?

I was actually planning to apply for passport right after the ceremony afternoon.

There was no oath change at all for me. I was posting each and every update that has occurred to me either on tracker or emails from IRCC

That's what they say. I don't know of anyone who's tested it by actually applying before that.

Presumably this is just some time for staff to enter the final information in systems and the systems to (reliably) update. It's possible it's faster now than when they first set this up (i.e. possibly have better systems now that update immediately, more or less).

I could *speculate* that for an in-person ceremony, the staff may need to return to office and confirm that each person who was in attendance completed the ceremony, etc. (They do have no-shows after all, so it can't be blanket for all listed). Again though - speculation.

And something similar presumably for online ceremonies but they may be doing it as they go.

Oh - and wuld staff at passport office accept the application anyway and just check it later? I don't know.
