Hi Everyone,

Could you please help me understand how should I fill the details for these queries on Form IMM5444 for PR renewal card:

3.5 – Travel documents

Check the box(es) only if you have ever been issued one or both of the following documents:

  • Travel document
  • Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD)
I have not been issued a PRTD before, I only travelled before using my passport and PR card before. Do I have to select Travel Document checkbox and provide my passport details here?

4.1 – Address history

I have at 3 different addresses within Canada since I became a PR. I will add this detail (from current to old) but do I have to mention addresses of the places I have stayed at while travelling outside of Canada ? I have mostly travelled to meet relatives or my daughter outside country and have stayed there for few months for couple of times.

3.5 - You answered your own question.

4.1 - Because these are addressed where you resided as your primary residence, you do NOT list places where you were staying whilst visiting someone. You capture that information in the Travel History section, showing the cities/countries you were visiting.

For 4.1 , the guide & the form states to include addresses inside and outside Canada for past 5 years, and I lived for extended periods of time while visiting my relatives/family in different countries. I stayed for about 2 to 3 months each time I was out of country.

-------------

The Guide says:

Your Address History: You must list all the addresses you have lived at, inside and outside Canada for the past five (5) years, or since becoming a permanent resident if less than five (5) years ago. You must account for each month during this time. Leave no gaps in your travel, if applicable. Please ensure you list your addresses from the most recent address (your current address) to the oldest.

Note: If additional space is required, please include a separate document.

-------------

Given my time off outside country was not typical ( It was not few weeks to a month ) , do you still think I don't need to include that in my address history?

I guess it comes down to if you truly were `living' there, if you still maintained your residence in Canada.

If you take a 3 month cruise...are you living on the ship?

I see your point, and yes, I’ve maintained my primary residence in Canada. It’s just that the form and the guide explicitly say to include all addresses lived at—inside and outside Canada—with no mention of exceptions if your primary residence was in Canada. That’s why I’m asking if including those stays with relatives will be safer and to avoid any processing issues later. What do you think about this? I will have to add a separate document because there is not enough space to include all the addresses since I need to provide it in continuity.

3.5 Isn’t a travel Document issued usually for refugees or protected persons who don’t have a passport? How could it be passport? It will usually ask for passport details pretty explicitly.

Please help me understand. Any references you can provide?

The answer is NO (do not select the check box), since you have not been issue PRTD nor RTD.
