I don't have a solid answer except to say that I believe numbers-wise, virtual are more frequent.

If you want to see/guess, you can check the date of ceremony against the publicly-posted schedules:

They're only posted for about a week at a time - but as far as I can tell, the days of the week at a given location are consistent. So if your date falls on, say, the 30th and location scarborough, in-person is possible (ceremonies on fridays and mondays). If it's the 28th, I don't see any Toronto-area location that does Wednesdays in person - so probably virtual.

(I've no idea offhand if they do in-person and virtual on same day - don't see why they wouldn't but don't know).

Mine is the 29th so it's a Thursday and although the calendar on the website doesn't go that far yet, I'm not seeing anything scheduled for Thursday May 23rd.

A few of us on here seem to have been scheduled for the 29th from the looks of it.

There are some in 'Sauga listed for this last week, they only seem to publish a week at a time.

But at any rate: neither Toronto-area location seems to do Thursdays, so it's most likely virtual.

I received the official invitation for the ceremony on May 30, but when I checked the ceremony website, there’s nothing listed for Vancouver on that date. I’m not sure how or when they update the site and to be honest, I don’t really care, as long as I have the official invitation. By the way, it’s an in-person ceremony. It's Vancouver office.

Notice I wrote they only seem to max announce them one week in advance - but the days of the week tend to stay the same.

Since Vancouver has them on the public schedule for the 23rd, the date you got the 30th for an in-person fits this pattern exactly.

AOR 4th Feb here with BG done in Feb. Good to see the progress this week, fingers cross the trend continues. Will be delighted if I can get an oath date in early June (or anytime in June tbh).

Son of a bitch, I just received the invite and it's for an in person ceremony in Scarborough. I'm sure they've done this on purpose just because I really wanted a virtual one. Ah well.

I would request a virtual ceremony but I'm not sure I would get one in time and I need the passport quite quickly.

Sadly they seem to have scheduled an in-person ceremony on a Thursday just for me.

Dress nicely, show up, take the oath, be happy, and celebrate. It’s a meaningful moment and there are so many people still waiting for their turn to experience it.

The ceremony is nice and I think most people will enjoy. Doesn't take noticeably longer - although I admit the locations do require transport.
