Why background check is taking too long?
Same here. Not sure, but read online that the BGC involves communicating with PA’s home country and when a response is received is out of IRCCs hands. Not sure this is the reason or other factors are at play for the long BGC processing time.

Most seem to have received biometrics and medical invitation around same time, but so far only biometrics invitation was received about a month ago. Medical invitation not received yet. I wonder if this plays into the long BGC time as the medical would be invalid sooner if needing to wait for the BGC. Just a theory!

Hi! I'm just starting the process and I was wondering... do I NEED an immigration consultant for that process? Did you hire one? Are you doing it yourselves?
It's very expensive and I'm questioning if I actually need one.
Thank you!

If you are organized and detailed, you should be fine doing it yourself (I did it myself). If you hire a consultant, you still need to do the heavy lifting yourself of providing all the documents etc… if you are concerned you could hire a consultant to just review your application before submitting it to get their feedback.
