I got my oath invite today for December 14 (also Calgary). I am living in Switzerland however at the moment and I am worried that getting from the oath to actually getting the passport will take pretty long, also considering CanadaPost with Christmas and probably Christmas hours for all businesses. Not to mention I was finally going to spend Christmas with my European family after 7 years and I would have to cancel that. Are there any people that have some idea/any insight on how long a new invite may take? Or what the consequences could be for rescheduling the oath?

Also, maybe unrelated, but I wrote a webform months ago to change my residential address to Switzerland, but I got the standard reply (about the refugees etc.). Should I be contacting them again so this is changed or is this not an issue if it still has my in-law's residential address linked to my account?

Thanks everyone, and I am happy Calgary office is doing something!
Anecdotally, someone was scheduled their oath on Sept., but rescheduled because they were out of the country, and when they came back they contacted IRCC, and they scheduled them again for Dec. I am not when they came back to Canada, though, and how long it took them from when they came back.

Is your address on ecas the address you updated your file to on webform?

Okay thank you very much. I have no trouble coming to Canada any other month after the holidays and waiting for my passport to travel again, so I will probably just explain my issue and hopefully they can reschedule me soon again.

No, my ECAS address never got updated to my Swiss home address, do you think I should send another webform or call them? They have not been very helpful so far lol.

A call would make changes quicker. Some also reported quick update when they updated their address from ecas.

Unfortunately I can't update it on ECAS because it's an address abroad. I'll try calling again. Thank you!

January 14, 2017. Praise God!
I am incredibly happy to report that I was finally scheduled for my oath on December 14!! I really had to hold back happy tears. Question for the lucky ones who have a passport by now: I have a flight booked out of the country for December 24. In your experience, would it be possible to receive my certificate and get a passport, all within 10 days after the ceremony? I would really hate to reschedule my ceremony. I'd rather reschedule my trip, even if I have to miss Christmas with my family again :(

I'm in the same boat but my situation is worse. I am scheduled on the 15th and already booked a trip for my honeymoon on the 19th, most likely I'll have to reschedule the ceremony.

The certificate takes 2-4 weeks and passport 25 business days. Highly unlikely that all the stars align in your favor.

I heard this in other posts - During your ceremony when you are in direct talks with the immigration officer, you can say your situation, share your flight details and they might be able to expedite the certificate delivery/pickup. Depends on case to case. Good Luck and keep us posted.

It can be highly favorable as well - If the oath officer expedites, the certificate can be picked up from the nearest IRCC office within a day or two, and passport can be applied under expedite where you get it within 1-3 days.

Just had the oath ceremony today. Emailed the form as instructed. I did not receive a receipt confirmation email. Emailed to:
IRCC.DNSCRCitizenshipCeremony-CeremonieCitoyenneteSCRRN.IRCC@cic.gc.ca
Is it okay that I didn’t receive a confirmation email? Is the address correct? Thanks
There is a Return to email on the oath form where you need to send the form to. Is the one you mentioned above the same email address?

The officer told me that I could also reply to the oath invite email I received for the ceremony (which was the same email address as Return to on the oath form).

It's normal. You will get an oath invitation through email but also keep checking the online tracker for an update on oath.

Highly unlikely that you will get everything done before December 24th. My oath was on November 13 (Mississauga office) and I needed to be in the States by November 22. I requested that the citizenship certificate be expedited, to which the officer responded that travel is not a valid reason to express mail the citizenship certificate. I told him that I needed to drive my wife for her follow-up appointment. The officer told me to send an explanation in the email, which I did right away - I sent a long email explaining my situation with supporting documents, but guess what.. I still haven't received the citizenship certificate after 10 days. Sorry for the bad news but will suggest rescheduling your trip and not relying on the citizenship certificate to be there on time. Also, factor in the holiday season so IRCC might be short-staffed.
