Documents I submitted to VO Abu Dhabi:
1. All Visa forms
2. Admission Letter, bursary letter and expenditure details
3. Fees payment receipt copy
4. Bank Statement of last 4 months
5. Bank certificate addressed to Canadian Embassy showing current balance in Canadian dollars (duly signed by two officials of the branch)
6. Academic certificates copy
7. IELTS TRF copy
8. MBA Brochure
9. Personal Statement
10. PCC from Pakistan and UAE
11. Current employment certificate
12. Future employment offer from Pakistan (for home ties)
13. Wife government service certificate (Pakistan) (for home ties)
14. Passport copies of wife and child (for home ties)
15. Passport copies (all pages)
16. latest CV
17. two passport size photos

The documents clearly shows that I am going back to Pakistan after studies. Not to UAE. IT is your home ties, not UAE ties.

What was the outcome for your visa application?

Hello, I'm an Indian but living in UAE.

I'm an incoming bba transfer student and I uploaded these documents as proof of home ties:

My uae residence visa, property proof (of both india and uae), bank statements from uae, investments and fixed deposits in India, dad's business proof in uae (trade license), final transcript of the uae uni that I'm transferring out of, and I explained in my statement of purpose that after graduating the undergrad program I plan to start a cafe business with my cousin back in India (he is more into culinary since he has experience of being involved in his own family restaurant and I'm into the business and management part of our future venture)

Right now, I'm just clueless if this is sufficient or if the VO will be unimpressed. Any feedback is welcome!

It would likely be a straight refusal, since you're living in UAE as a temporary worker. Return to your home country and establish your residency there before applying

I'm not a temporary worker I'm just a student, my dad is sponsoring my residency here, my bad forgot to mention that here haha

Ohh I wasn't aware that you had to go to your home country to get approved, I'm confused tho because most of my friends (same expat status as me) got approvals for their study permit

Hi Nadeem. I think doing so is a very bad idea as it may count as a misrepresentation which results in a 5-year ban from Canada which might be a very ugly stain on your international profile.
Hi am a newbie here. I came across this forum as I am looking for an answer to the same concern above. My family and I are here in UAE and am planning to lodge as the student. But to what I have mostly read , UAE refusal is really high. And some people I know used their home country as their current residence even if they are currently living here in UAE. And they got approved. But my concern is , this might caused a misrepresentation or fraud on the latter part once you applied for PR in the near future. Please share your thoughts.

Hi everyone, I am writing after a long time. I was in UAE when I applied for student visa (2014). I got my student visa on first attempt. And I had a study gap of 8 years. So I can ensure you that you can get student visa from UAE, but your documents should show that you will leave after studies. I was working in UAE and my family was back in Pakistan, still I applied and got the visa. The biggest issue for me was my home ties. Your home ties should be strong.
Hi there! I am currently in UAE. Can you please tell me what was your answer in the IMM 1294? I am confused what to write , though literally the answer to #7 is UAE since I am here. But thinking of mentioning my home country because most who got approve did it. But again this is misrepresentation right? Please share your thoughts.

question #7 = current country/territory residence?
question #9 = country territory where you are applying?

Well, that's not true at all!!! There are many people including some of my seniors in Hight School that have applied from UAE are now studing with in Canada.
Yes, its true that since we are a tempory resident in UAE it makes it a bit more diffcult to obtain a study permit but as long as you are able to prove to them that you have ties to this country (UAE) and you are able to pay for your tuition thats all it matters.

You need to give me a bit more information so I can advise you better but generally, if you have family living in the Emirates, that can be enough to full fill the "ties to the country" criteria. For example, in my application, I showed them my parent employment certificate, how long they have been living in the emirates, mentioned that I have siblings studying here, investments both locally and internationally, Business owned and Etc.. Generally just having family living in the emirates can be enough and I know many people that have gotten the study permit with just that. Surly if you have more then just family to prove, it could strengthen your application.
i applied on 10 sep from Dubai, i working here as safety engr since 2016, my spouse in same profession here since 2013, i did master from italian university and spouse did study in uk 2010. Spouse applied with me as SOWP. positive sign is our travel history that in past we both studied abroad and came back on time, , i attached Ejari, vehicle ownership, Dewa bills and child school admission letters from dubai and ties with my current construction company in dubai and shown strong ties in dubai but i totally forgot to mentioned strong ties in Pakistan but my spouse mentioned strong ties in dubai and pakistan :(

I am in a similar situation but other way around. I plan to use my wife as study visa applicant.

I am working in Qatar since 8 years in same company and plan to support my wife's student visa.

The catch is that my wife has a study gap of around 11 years and in this gap she worked only 3-4 years and the remaining gap was maternity leave and had to take care of children until they are stable enough.

At first, I do not intend to file spouse open work permit inorder to minimize chances of student visa refusal.

The courses she intend to study indeed has good future here in middle east and this can be justified using her last drawn salary. The amount we will pay for education in Canada will eventually reap the benefits when she comes back and continues her work. Do you think such explanation is enough to justify the intent ?

Would be grateful for your inputs.

Thanks.
