Greetings!
I wanted to ask if anyone is travelling via the Egypt option during the current direct flight ban between India and Canada.

I am considering this option and would like to know if anyone else has gone through this option or is willing to take this option as at the moment it is very important for me to travel back to Canada as I am a PGWP holder.

kindly share any information with me.

thank you
Amanjot

PCR testing needs to be available within the international transit area of the transit airport in order for transiting to be possible. I don't believe that's the case in Egypt. I believe you would need to leave the airport and enter the country to get a PCR test which means you would need to quarantine in Egypt for 14 days before traveling on to Canada.

DEL-ADD-YYZ. I also wander if someone can fly via USA as transit?

You can fly via the US as long as you have a valid US visa (e.g. B2) and the airport you will be transiting through offers PCR testing.

Well even if the transit area covid testing option is not available, still we can go out and get the testing done considering there are no quarantine requirements in Egypt. So, I think Egypt might be a good option to consider.

You may be right about their being no quarantine there. In that case it might be an option that will work well.

I can only imagine the implications if a number of international students would take this route... Just one false-negative and everything would be back to square one of another flight ban...

as far as i know if your transit period is not long. for example if your pcr results prior departing expires during transit. u are required to take another test. i am bit confused here i asked officials in my country. they told me as long you present valid negative test u can go to Canada via transit. but if you leave the airport or transit area then you will need another test. it is connecting flight so u leave a gate and enter another gate.

I agree with that. This route is a bit risky as well plus quite expensive. So I think only those who are in real need to get to Canada would be choosing this route. I, myself is very important for me to reach Canada in my present situation but all I am waiting for is if any better options come up or if someone is willing to take this route so maybe I can have a companion in this route rather than being all alone..

Hey! Are u from Egypt?

On a recent flight from India half the passengers were found to be covid positive, there is a reason for the ban, you risk spreading indian variant to other countries

You do understand that some of us need to reach canada urgently like PGWP holder, spouses, students and so on. People are taking precaution so things will be smooth
and Also cases in india are decreasing due to lockdowns in major cities and vaccination.

Well we are well aware of that. And first of all, all the requirements are in place for quarantine plus the Canadian government has allowed indirect flights just the condition is to have a negative pcr test so you don’t need to worry. But in my opinion only those who are in urgent need to be in Canada and who cannot manage without it should travel at the moment.
