NO, you will not be illegal. This is called Implied Status and you will be considered legal until a decision on your application is made.

Did any of you receive an email when they started reviewing your eligibility on your trv application? Is there usually an update when they start reviewing or did you guys just directly get a passport submission request? Please let me know.

My BOWP got approved this Feb and is valid till Feb 2022.

I applied for TRV in early Jan while I was in Canada (BOWP not yet approved)

Now I am Stuck out in the country and waiting for my TRV. Is there any way to request for expediting so I can return back to my work. I travel in mid-Jan to attend my babys birth.

I’m in the same boat as you. I applied first week of Feb and now I have to get back to work but Idk if there’s anyway to expedite the process. Do let me know if you find a way. Thanks

People who applied prior to the travel restrictions and wish to be considered on a priority basis are asked to contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca and indicate how they meet the criteria for exemption, explain the reason for their non-discretionary/non-optional travel and submit acceptable proof.

Trv is for travel purposes only. Even if your trv is expired and you need to travel you can travel but you can’t travel back to canada with your valid student permit.
You can only be living illegally if you haven’t applied for study or work permit before its expiration and you continue to live after the date of expiration of your permit.

I have a visitor visa until the end date of my passport. The visitor visa is a tourist visa with multiple entries.

I have a work permit for 18months and the tourist visa covers the 18months. Should I still apply for a trv for my current work permit?

I am in the same situation
My 3 PGWP expired in 2020 but got new WP extension in Feb under new policy
Although the stamp on my passport for W-1 worker visa is valid until 2023 (expiry of my passport)
Do i have to send passport for new stamp or the one I have on my passport for previous PGWP should suffice to travel?
