We have always been short of public "statements" - that's a substantial part of why people were protesting. In my understanding, the online test was just a pilot limited in the confines of a 5000 batch, and since the New Year I have not seen any report on test invites. That's why I am starting to suppose that that might be complete and we are back in limbo. I do hope I am wrong though.
There have been test invites in the new year.

At least one November 2019 applicant received a test invite on Jan 5. It would not make any sense to assume that IRCC is stopping online tests. They initiated a pilot program to reduce the backlog and to monitor the efficiency of the system. Why on earth would they suspend the program when there is a gargantuan backlog that is only growing by the day?

Sometime around mid Feb / March, it is likely that we will see an increase in the number of test invites sent out by IRCC.

Hello, I sent my application at the beginning of March 2020 and got my AOR at the end of August 2020 and in process now. Should I start studying for the test or will I probably wait for like a year, what do you guys think?
It's never too early to study. If you have time now, you can begin studying casually. I say this because the more you go over the material, the more it sticks, so when the test invite comes, it is more or less a revision.

How long do you think are the wait times for a March 2020 (beginning of it) applicant approximately?

Quite hard to predict with all that's been going on. Some applicants from July 2019 still haven't received test invites, so I really can't say and won't even try to put out a random month for you.

I believe that they will rollout at a faster rate after the 5000 is hit if there were not major issues with their pipeline.

Having agents manually checking test footage is probably one of the major bottlenecking issues they are most likely trying to sort out which would be a big reason to only continue at a slow pace. If this turns out not to be much of a problem than I think they’ll increase the number of invites.

As for me, I’ve already been invited and have taken the online test. I’m a July 2019 applicant who had a test date that was canceled in March 2019. My current status is “Decision Made” and am just waiting for an email telling me I’m invited to an oath ceremony or have been rejected.
Well, honestly, checking the complete video footage of each and every applicant might prove to be impractical. If the said bottleneck is to be reduced, I suppose IRCC might have to resort to random checks to ensure program integrity but at the same time, that will reduce the delay significantly. Another thing would be to check the video footage for all applicants at random periods for the aforementioned reason instead of sitting and watching the entire thing.

Not sure if they will consider either of those options but just putting it out there.

I agree. Your idea of randomized checking is probably the most practical. Also, I think they might want to consider choosing which tests to check based on an average time. I think a lot of people will complete the test in under 5 minutes. If someone is going to try and cheat, I think that would actually increase their time.

If you check their website regarding the online test, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/citizenship-test/before.html#monitor, they do not record a video of you for the whole duration of the test but take pictures of you at random times. It clearly states that "Our system will use your webcam to take your photo at random times during the test. It will not record any audio or video". So, I don't think you should worry about the efficiency of the checks IRCC is conducting.

They are not recording guys, just taking a random still image.

@AshesNdust I hope i get my Decision Made this week too! If I could follow your timeline I should hear this week - I know it's not like that but one can hope. :D I'm really grateful to have written my test and had something move after a year, so I can be a little patient for the next step. I would really like my citizenship soon in case I need to leave to join my husband.
