My eligibility status is still 'we are reviewing the your eligibility".
But this week I have received the final decision and it was approved. Also, got the PPR on the same day.
Thanks.
Can you write down your timeline please,

Well, in my case they started the eligibility review on January 7th. I applied on November 12th, so I took 7 weeks and half for that to start. But in the mean time, they only change I noticed was on background check it started before Christmas. So I think, when they start reviewing the background, one or two week later you can expect the eligibility review to start

Reviewing eligibility of what? It depends on what you have applied for and the processing time.

I applied for study visa for May 2021 intake on 28th of December. I'm asking when they are likely to start processing my file. From my side, only biometrics are pending and for that I have appointment on 19th of January. My country of residence is India.

They will start reviewing your eligibility a few days before your processing time is over. So that will be in 36 weeks. for now it will be We are processing your application. And your processing time would start counting from the date you have given your biometrics.

You can find out your processing time on this website https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

Thank you for understanding my question . One question here, do they send some sort of notification whey they start with background check? as of now it says on my GC key that "we are processing your background check." Feel free to share your thoughts about it.

Well, its a Govt job and we should keep our expectations accordingly. I don't think they put in extra time or effort just thinking there are lots of people suffering financially and emotionally due to the long delay. For them its a paid job & they follow the guidelines laid therein.

You are right. But, the processing times are not correct, It may change according to the amount of applications that was processed previously/in the past. It is just an estimation. There were few student received their decision beofre 36 weeks. A student in this forum applied on 12 October 2020 and he got it approval on December 21, 2020. Now he sent his passport for stamping and waiting for passport deliver to his home. So, we just need to hope things would get better in course of time.

Unless there will be an interference from the higher authorities in govt to ensure staff does double time & finish the pending applications, nothing is going to happen. I sincerely feel a lot can be done to speed up things if the govt is willing as it is not just a matter of business anymore, peoples lives depend on it.

We can whine all we want but all we can do is wait for our turn.
