Yes, looks like it...
Hey guys, they have started issuing AIP to Jan intake as well... They must be working on those files right now...

Official Site: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/students.html#exemptions

We’ll process your application in 2 stages if

  • you submitted your application on or before December 15, 2020
  • your application is incomplete due to COVID-19 (for example, you’re missing your biometrics or medical), and
  • your program begins in the winter 2021 semester
Name - XXXXX
college - Seneca College
medical update - no
upfront medical provided - Yes (3 sept)
application date - 6 oct 2020 at 6:30 in evening
Aip recived in mail - 7 jan 7:58 pm IST

Look at this case.. File is complete but still got the AIP....

I been trying to log onto my GCKey account, but no success, getting bad request error every time, it's been like this since last few hours, is anyone else having the same issue?

I believe they are doing some mass updates, but not sure

Yes, I read this update today. Surprised to see that the 2 stage process still continues and extended as well. Does this mean every study permit application will only necessarily be considered for AIP?

Pardon me for my ignorance. What’s AIP? How do you get that? I applied on November 12th and the only update I received was on the background check.

AIP is called Approval in principle, which the IRCC has initiated to process study permit applications faster, as it was affected by covid 19. The AIP process has a different way of screening which involves 2 stages verification steps. See the link below under the section applying online. I'm not sure whether we will fall under 2 stage processing if I'm not mistaken.

Not sure buddy, but looks like they may focus to issue AIP so more students can start online and thereby keeping the inflow of cash intact. As AIP processing takes less time than processing complete file...

I am very frustrated and disappointed, they should have not stopped it in between, if they had to start again... They have completely lost it.
