Yeah I remember you being around all those years back.

I missed the 2016 Courier FIFO. Started applying in 2017. All lottery. Never got selected for 1st round 2017, 2nd round 2017, 1st round 2018, 2nd round 2018.

Then 2019 became FIFO. And I got a spot.

Just wondering if anyone here has been trying since 2017 and still hasn't been successful?
Me same trying since 2017 never get a luck

If there were any supplementary PGP draws, I never seen or heard about it. Maybe they kept a low profile so people dont actually see how many spots were actually stolen by knowingly unqualified sponsors.
In 2018, the 1st draw was March 19 and the 2nd draw was July 31
In 2019, there was only 1 time FIFO so no 2nd draw...
And IRCC was annoucing both of the draw publicly on social media too so definitely keep watching/following IRCC

As long as there are more demand than spots available, there will always be someone who didn't get picked, whether its FCFS or Lotto. They will complain about the system since they didnt get picked. You can't satisfy or please everyone.

Personally I think the lotto is a fair compromise with all things considered.

I did read some people say they would rather be waiting 7-8 years knowing they are in the queue and eventually getting a spot than to be going from lottery to lottery never knowing if they will ever get a spot.

You are right about how you can't please everyone.

And I think the email invitations are being sent out during the office hours of the EST... Someone has to watch/monitor the email processing server to ensure it's doing fine.
Until tomorrow!

the only thing im interesting in here is what is the chance to getting a ticket? 5%?
Probably closer to 3% assuming 300000 applied for 10000 spots.

You will get better odds, not much, when same 300000 apply this year again for 20000 spots.

They only say that because they weren't around in the days where processing times were 10+ years. Grass is always greener...

The 10+ year wait times were horrible with many bad consequences. Lots of parents passed away before they were ever able to make it to Canada. Other parents became older and ill - and by the end of the 10+ years could not longer pass the medical and had their applications denied (even though they were in good health when the process started). Dependents whose age was locked in when the application was submitted had to remain unmarried for a decade or more to keep themselves as part of the application. I can give many other examples. It was an absolutely miserable experience for sponsors and applicants, and the processing times just kept getting longer and longer.

While the lottery has not been well executed, it is far better than 10+ year wait times.

How did you guys find out how many spots and how many applicants?

Edit : Found following information from article. so the odds are 20% not 3 or 5%....
"This year, the federal government offered 20,000 spots for sponsoring parents or grandparents, and confirmed that more than 100,000 had attempted to access the online form to express interest. "
