Dear All,

Need your support to understand the following:

My spouse is ACCA member has the following experience and we need to finalize the NOC:

1. Trainee Accounts Officer (Contractual Job but 40 hours a week). (2 years)
2. Accounts & Finance Officer (Permanant Job with 40 hours a week) (1.5 years)

My question is as follows:

Should we opt for NOC 1311 or NOC 1111.
Secondly, would the word "Trainee" in title create a problem for acceptance of experience and also it was a contractual position.

Would appreciate urgent help !!

Regards
SMK

NOC1111 would do fine if her duties listed in her experience letters are related to those under NOC1111.
Payslips and signed contracts can proof that it was a regular job regardless of the actual title

Thank you for replying, so I understand being contractual is not an issue to worry since working hours are regular for a job, also somebody told me the NOC 1111 is for senior level accountant roles but my spouse did some basic entry level accounting and book keeping but she is more qualified leading to the confusion.

Having same issue. My wife will be the principal applicant Waiting to write IELTS in few weeks. Her first degree is Accountancy and 2nd degree is accounting and financial management, but only working as account officer in a distribution company. Her role inclined to more of NOC1311 than 1111 which is making us confused as which NOC to chose when applying for EE. Would love to be guided as well not to make wrong choice.

Once again its all about job duties mentioned in her reference letters. Whichever NOC matchs up with that is the one she should select

CA is not mandatory to become a qualified accountant .. getting a university degree usually is enough

Hi @yiso91
Primary Occupation: My NOC 1111 Accountants and Auditors. And according to the NOC website, it requires Skill level of 1 - Occupations usually require university education. Since I completed my Bachelor's first and it's a University education, Should I put my Bachelors graduation date in the option of when I was first qualified to practice in this profession? I also have a Master's in Commerce.
I am not a CA/CPA/CMA/CIA.

It's about matching your job's role and responsibilities with those of the NOC the most.

To be honest, 1311 and 1111 are similar, but i look at it as more like 1311 has a lower threshold because you're not required to have a bachelor's degree, whereas with 1111 you'd need one to practice as a qualified accountant or auditor in Canada.

If her role was closer to bookkeeping, making accounting entries, and she did less high level work like preparation of financial statements, 1311 would be a safer bet. If she prepared more financial reports, analysis and management accounts, then 1111 would be more appropriate.

If that degree was the minimum required to practice in your field then the date of graduation and/or date listed on your degree is what you want to use. As I said, you dont need to be a CA to practice accounting or auditing, in many countries (including Canada) you can be an high school grad. and work full-time, let along having a post-secondary education

Thanks for your reply. I didn't know I had made a mistake while choosing my NOC but submitted my PR application. Most of my job duties match NOC 1311 and NOC 1111 partially. The thing is I have been working as an Accountant for 5 years now. Initially when I joined my job duties were those that are mentioned in NOC 1311. Now after 2 years in my job I've been additional tasks that are mentioned in NOC 1111. If change my NOC code & job experience in EE profile, does that raise a redflag?

It's all about what you can prove on your documents, as you don't need to claim more than 3 years of experience. IRCC is looking for majority not for absolute complete match to the NOC database and quite honestly the job duties mentioned there are somewhat vague to say the least. With that being said, you shouldn't worry too much about that right now as they would still need to look through your documents later on. Ensure you keep track of your application and call them mid-way the six months to follow up on the status and if you were told that something isn't right you can always submit a new JD with a letter of explanation to clear your position.

Thank you very much for your reply. My job title still remains "Accountant" but different job duties(NOC 1311).I have been working from 2015 and until 2017 October I had been paid in Cash and starting from then I am being paid my salary through bank. Now my employer is willing to provide me salary certificate and work experience certificate but I'm not sure I have all the salary slips from 2015. Should I request my employer me new salary slips starting from 2015 to 2017?

You don't have to show payslips for all your tenure, you could however have attached payslips for the last six months preceding your application, IRCC is only interested in proof that you are actually employed under the job you have claimed on your application

Now that I have submitted my Express entry profile, Can I update my NOC and Work experience? Would that hurt my chances of getting ITA or a PNP?
