I am a Canadian PR (been here for over 6 months now) and received a TRV rejection for my parents yesterday. Senior member on the group, can you please review and share your comments?

Case details :

- Father retired Naval officer (earning pension) and Mother is a house maker
- All siblings staying out of India, I am the only one in Canada
- Purpose of visit : Family/Tourism and Length of stay : 20 days

Documents (apart from the basics)
- Property, Bank statements with record of monthly pension
- Aus Travel history (twice) : 6 months (2017) and 3 months (2018)
- Notarised Invitation letter
- Detailed plan of travel

Rejection reason :

- Family ties in Canada and India
- Purpose of Visit

The actual reason for their visit was my Marriage - the date was still unplanned when i applied as we were searching for the venue etc. But now I have everything confirmed I am going to update the Purpose of visit from Family/Tourism visit to Marriage now. I have documentation to show - ceremony hall, reception hall booking etc. All booking were made after the visa application and before the rejection came.

I am not fully sure if the Family ties concern will still be a rejection reason? What can I change/add to overcome the rejection reason on Family ties? Do i need to consult an immigration consultant or lawyer locally here in Toronto?

Think one of the reasons is you only recently arrived in Canada. How long have you been working? They also spent long periods in Australia before where I assume they were visiting another family member (another child). There may be concerns that they will stay longer than the 20 days you specified. Do they have children left in India? Living with them?

Thanks for the revert @canuck78. Been working on a full time position 15 days after I arrived here (so 5+ months). Yes you are correct, they were visiting my sister in Australia, she had a baby thus the visit durations were longer. No children living in India. Any additional thoughts/comments?

I was thinking to add a cover letter and specifically raise these points on Ties back in India:

- They need to be in India to receive the pension as they have to sign the documents in person at the bank every year or so i guess
- Be more clear on the house and land they own
- A car and Bike on their name
- Their Australian travel history and the reason of visit

Given that your parents are retired there are likely concerns that your parents will want to spend a good part of the year in Canada and the other part in Australia with short trips home in between. This is a common situation.

@canuck78: That would have been ideal but given the situation I am in, I am okay even if they get a visa for a month or less - just to come in for the wedding. Cause if the second visa attempt does not go through, then we will cancel all plans here and do our wedding in India. Have u seen such cases? I have been researching, but any idea what we can do in such a situation? Will consulting a local immigration consultant or lawyer help?

Save your money and apply for GCMS notes. The exact concerns will be detailed. All you can do is attempt to address these.

Hello guys,

My father’s visitor visa to Canada was refused on basis of personal and financial assests and puprose of visit.

Purpose of visit was to meet daughter as we havent met since last two yrs cz he works in dubai and was on vacation in india for three months.

He cane to india on 25 dec,2019 and applied for visa on 15 feb . Visa was requested for 10 days as he is having his flight back to dubai from india on 31 march.

Persobal assests and finaces we showed our proterty his slaary certificate bank balance and my brother as his support as my brother also works in dubai.

Could u guys reflect what could have caused the refusal?

Also my mothers vsiit to canada was also shown as she accompanied me in aug 2019and left canada In dec 2019.

How much liquid cash did your father show? The fact that he works in Dubai and only visits India creates difficulties showing ties to his home country.

The timing has nothing to do with it. Are your parents also paying for your schooling? If so their savings would be mostly used to pay for your schooling. I also noticed that your mother spent 3 months in Canada with you as a student. When applying for a TRV did she say she was planning on staying with you for 3 months?

Thanks alot for replying.

My mother visited her sister in US in 2015 for marriage and at that time she applied for visitor visa to canada to see our relatives. And at that time she didnt came cz of some family issue and went back to India. Now she accompanied me.

For my fees, m fully funded by university here but u r right may b it could be the issue for VO

the fact your mother stayed with you for so long also could be a concern.

If he doesn’t live in India full-time it doesn’t make a difference whether he is applying from India.
