Just oil and effort are wrong , but sliding is absolutely fine bcz sliding off didn't make any sense in the blank. I also thought about it twice and wrote sliding only
Police stopped it as it was looking like begging and resumed after some years

It was connected to agriculture - yes because they talked about cropsand plough. It says connected!!
I believe the origin was Agriculture as it says for yearly crops they celebrate this festival
