Lol again same old interpretation! You do not need Post bachelors or Post graduate, you just need a certificate, diploma or degrees which is done Post secondary and assessed as Canadian equivalent minimum one year long credential by one of the designated organizations. Yes World Education Services (famously known as WES) is an authorized organization. Your credential must be matched with one of the listed credentials mentioned in the link you have shared. You may argue that no where is written that it must be at least one year long. Answer to this question is- when we fill out education history section in EE profile, for the level of the credential we only get options below-
  • secondary
  • one year certificate
  • two year certificate
  • bachelors or 3 or more year certificate
  • master
  • PhD
Now tell me which option you would select if your ECA does not specify the length or it says One semester? You may say you would choose based on your actual transcript but this will not work unless ECA report support it. Also your educational institute must be recognized by ECA report to claim points. You may contact with WES and ask them to mention about the length of the program.

Well, I appreciate you have taken time to reply on my query and thanks a lot for it.

But, I guess you've got the questions wrong, and I would like to correct if I haven't presented them correctly. Once again, my question isn't about whether WES is an authorised organisation or not. It's because against a certain certificates and degrees that they have mentioned a footnote (which is also what you have mentioned in your post). This is where my query of WES being the right organization or not is. The footnote reads as below:

"This equivalency assessment outcome applies to reports issued by either the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES), British Columbia Institute of Technology, or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS), Government of Alberta. These designated organizations provide equivalency assessment outcomes in English only." - meaning that these degrees need to be asessed by ICES or IQAS only.

Secondly, no sane person applying for a PR and handling EE on his own (not via consultant) will ever mention length of program as "ONE SEMESTER". As rightly pointed out, I have selected one year certificate basis what my transcript read. However, the WES report doesn't read that as "One Year Certificate....". Again, the doubt is that is this because the course was a "Long Distance Program" - distance learning and hence mentioned as "COMPLETION of an EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM"?

Appreciate any possible and plausible help.

TIA!

You don't get this option of "two or more degrees" in EE profile. You just select the correct equivalency of each degree and the system calculates the points based on the information you provided.
Apologies for the confusion and stand corrected for what you have highlighted in RED. That's exactly how I have done. Got it mixed with the CRS calculator where you provide the inputs for the options under education.

Thanks for correcting.

No idea why everyone is getting worried about two and more degree option. Just fill out the EE form and let the system take care of calculations for you. I have a 2-year bachelor degree, assessed as a 2-year post-secondary diploma, got points for 2 or more degrees/certificates and received ITA in January. I didn't enter any wrong information in the system, I didn't calculate my CRS. The system took 24 hours to do that for me, so why would I be worried about the calculation?

Hi Members,

I have a question around spouse ECA. My current score is 441 and I created my profile on January 22, 2018. If I get my wife ECA it should be around 450, however, this is going to cost me around 30-35K and hassle of dealing with universities and not to forget another month and a half before I get ECA report for my wife.

Should I wait without the ECA for spouse sitting at 441? or Should I go ahead with spouse ECA and increase my score anyways?
I am concerned about spending this money, however, if this is the best and right way to go ahead. So be it!

Please advise.

@Ovcar looks like they got 50 points here..
Dunno how these 50 points were calculated. Could that be due to the fact that I have work experience in various countries? My IELTS score isn't perfect. IELTS Writing = 7 only.

Exactly! The system is there to do the job for you, let it handle it.

Yes, you should wait until the next draw. Hopefully you will get the ITA.

Ok. My institution is recognized by WES. However, as pointed out by you, my WES report (for my second degree) doesn't read EXACTLY as the option of "One Year Certficate" or anything like that. Instead it only states CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY as "COMPLETION OF EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM from a Graduate School of BUSINESS".

What does this mean? Is the Canadian Equivalency report correctly interpretated by me as "One Year Certificate" or no? If no, should I approach WES for further details or altogether get it evaluated from IQAS?

Any help here please.

Thanks.

The listening score is more important. Should be 8 or above and the rest if 777, you are good.

No. of Applicants as per CRS distribution, calculated before the draw (minus) No. of ITAs issued = X
X (divided by) No. of days (between CRS distribution date and Draw date). Mostly they were 6 days apart.

CRS-no. of new entrants per day
444- 55
442- 161
442- 132
456- NA
446- 161
444- 60
441- 163
441- 297
I hope less than 297 applicants will enter the pool per day this time around.

oh wow, didnt know that. Still can get those 3 points if I re-take IELTS. It all depends on draw 90.

There you go, you got this. This is what I was trying to clarify. You must have an ECA which indicates the length of the program. Yes you should approach WES about it. And when I said "one semester" I meant the ECA report outcome. Few one year long PGD courses from different countries are evaluated as PGD (one semester) by WES which have no value in CRS points because minimum points one can claim is One year.

Hope it helps, Good Luck!

Edit: as per the footnote it seems wes will not mention the length of the program and they advised to get it done from other mentioned organizations. I think you should get it done by IQAS as well. It is better late than sorry. And please do not misunderstand, my intention is to help you.

I would say if you have a birthday approaching, get the spouse WES done. Otherwise, you should be getting it in a matter of 1-3 weeks...if u see an upward trend in CRS( heavens forbid) again get it done.
