Tips for writing general
For my entire preparation, I used roadtoielts website. For writing, it was quite useful. I finished it and then looked at sample essays on this site.
http://www.ielts-blog.com/ielts-writing-samples/ielts-essay-samples-of-band-8/
Once you go through the sample essays, you can figure out the key items to avoid in writing and to essential ones to include for higher band scores.
I failed in reading many times. Though I was appearing for the general module, I did use the academic module materials IELTS 1 to 12. It improved my reading and helped me achieve 9.

Hello Everyone,

I had appeared for GT IELTS on 6th January 2018 from Nagpur Location.

The results were postponed to 27 Jan as mentioned above due to some technical issues.

My overall band score is - 7 (L-7.5,R-6.5,W-5.5,S-8).I did not expect such a low score in writing test.

However my Immigration consultants have told me to re-appear for IELTS.

Please let me know if the my prev score is less to go ahead ? Also what is the relation with NOC ?

Waiting for your valueable input.

Regards,
Abhyuday

Yes they are correct. You are not eligible with your current scores. You need minimum 6 in all to just be eligible.

Reading and listening you can only practice. Practice as much as you can. Barron's and Cambridge IELTS are good books. Then be careful with True and False section. Rest it depends upon building the comprehension level. I would say IELTS General reading is pretty straight forward. Do many online tests also. Even YT has videos on it. Daily if time permits do a test and more on weekends for a month and always adhere to the time. I used to finish my reading test at least 20 mins earlier and did the same for real exam. But when I read I don't get distracted at all, so the biggest need is to have full attention and never assume anything. I always felt that my gut feeling was right and when I tried to overthink and deduce my answers got wrong. While doing mock tests find out your weak area and work on it. Good luck! You will do well.
Thank you

Start reading magazines and newspapers like nytimes, TIME, etc., They use complex language and words and you would be able to build your vocabulary gradually. If you need a cheat sheet, start preparing familiar words that you have known and look for synonyms online. For e.g, a simple word like 'boring' has the following alternate words. Same goes to all the words that you might be using.

synonyms: tedious, dull, monotonous, repetitive, unrelieved, unvaried, unimaginative, uneventful;
characterless, featureless, colorless, lifeless, insipid, uninteresting, unexciting, uninspiring, unstimulating, uninvolving;
unreadable, unwatchable;
jejune, flat, bland, dry, stale, tired, banal, lackluster, stodgy, vapid, monochrome, dreary, humdrum, mundane;
mind-numbing, wearisome, tiring, tiresome, irksome, trying, frustrating;
informaldeadly, ho-hum, dullsville, dull as dishwater, plain-vanilla
