I understand it that they take away PR card permanently and we need to apply for passport to be able to re-enter the country. So this is why I already started filling out passport application forms and will run to passport office two business days after the ceremony.:D
Thanks for your reply.

The oath invite does not say how many guests/family members we are allowed to bring to the oath ceremony. Does anyone have an idea?

When we apply for the passport in person at the passport office, do we need to take photocopies of the landed immigrant paper and id.
I had 3 guests but my ceremony wasn't a big one it was only 30 people.
Thank you for your reply. My ceremony is at University of Toronto convocation hall, i guess there shouldn't be a space issue. Also on the cic webpage it says it's open to public, so i guess you can take more than 1 or 2 family members.

Hi Darwaish,

My wife has to hand over her PR card on the oath taking day and then apply for the Canadian passport. Realizing the time period to be too tight , we decided not to take any risk and jeopardize our trip. So she emailed CIC and informed them about her travel plans along with the copy of the ticket. And requested for rescheduling the oath date.

Below is the content she received along with the invitation letter :

Sir/Madam,

The purpose of this notice is to invite you to a Canadian Citizenship Ceremony.

The date, time and details of your appointment are attached to this email.

· Please read the attached notice carefully to verify the date/time of your appointment and to ensure you bring all required items listed on the notice in order to be eligible to participate in your Citizenship Ceremony.

Please print, fill out and bring the following:

1. Notice to Appear

2. Media Release Form

3. Prohibitions Form

· Please do not arrive more than 1 hour prior to your scheduled Citizenship Ceremony due to the high amount of client volume in the check-in/waiting area.

·
If you are travelling outside of Canada within 1 week or less after your scheduled Citizenship Ceremony, please be aware that this may not allow you enough time to apply for and receive a Canadian Passport. For further information on Passport Canadas locations, timelines, fees, policies and procedures, please consult their website at www.passport.gc.ca

·
Please keep in mind that you must wait a minimum of 3 business days after your Citizenship Ceremony to apply for a Canadian Passport.

Cheers...
So things turned out for us in the similar fashion.
We are travelling on 21 Dec. and they have sent the oath invite for19th Dec.
I 've requested for rescheduling through email to Edmonton office attaching copy of our tickets.
Now my question is if and how would we know that they have received our request or considering it?
Should I contact Call Centre too?
Any ideas how it work for such requests?
Thanks

Hey all -- I spoke to IRCC this morning and found out that my application is being handled out of the Scarborough office. The spreadsheet says Toronto, though. Are those the same thing? Or do I need to request the spreadsheet be updated?

we need i think to bring the citizenship certificate. You can bring 2 family members it is not a big deal. If it was an issue they would put it in writing how many guests you should have. They didn't tell me so I had 3 guests my place was a theater there was plenty of seats available.

If I were you I would get the weekend service but you can also ask at the passport office if it is guaranteed you will get the passport at the end of next business day.

You only need the citizenship certificate and your passport application with pictures and an ID ofcourse. Landing document is not required anymore since you would be a citizen already at that point :)

I guess it would be the same application for any kind of urgent passport service so my recommendation would be to go the passport office and tell them about your situation. They would tell you which service to opt for- Go mentally prepared to pay for the weekend service
