Hi all,

Just checking whether anyone on here has to had to get a police clearance certificate from Spain? I know the CIC website gives you details about how to get it done, but I was just checking if anyone has ever had the experience of getting one, just to compare notes.

Thanks!

Hello Vishal,

I requested the PCC by mail (from abroad), 1 week ago. I think it will take at least 1 or 2 more weeks for me to get it.

Have you requested it? Did you received it?

Good luck!

Hello,
I also requested a police certificate from Spain from abroad. Just follow the instructions from CIC and those on the Ministry of Justice Website provided. I git mine in less than two weeks after application ( I used courier post so it got there in 3 working days and I received it in about a week). Tt was pretty fast. best

They Ministry mailed the document through the mail. I believe they issued it to the consulate in Los Angeles, who forwarded it too me. They did not use a courier. I don't recall sending a pre-paid envelope or not, it was over a year ago.

Is the PCC in Spanish or English? I am considering asking a friends who still lives there to get it on my behalf. How did you guys legalise it for Canada?

Hi @Xtreme Innovations, would it be possible to give more details on the PCC. I had a friend who got mine, but it never mentions the time spent in Barcelona. Just says that I have been cleared.

Hello, since the friend already collected it , I am sure you must be getting it translated. I did not need to get it legalized again (during application you were supposed to fill an option to get it legalized in Spain- mine was done at the back of the pcc). Hence only certified translation and original version is needed. My PCC did not give details either. Not all PCCS give that and I am sure CIC understands that, I got pccs from Poland and Uk and no time was mentioned either. I noticed that for some countries CIC asks for the time but apparently It doesn't apply to all countries. hope this helps....

Hello,

Sorry to jump in to your discussion, but I am in the middle of this Spain PPC getting process and I have some doubts that you might be able to enlight me.

I requested my PCC by mail direct to the Ministerio da Justicia in June but, unfortunately, my certificate got lost on the way back and I never received it in my address. In this sense, I hired a "gestoría" - company who requests this kind of documents in Spain and they were able to get my certificate. The problem is that the certificate came with an eletronic signature and It was not legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nor verified by the Canadian Empassy.

My major problem is that I am running out of time to send my documents to CIC. Could you please walk me through this process of legalization and verification in Spain? Is it really necessary since the certificate was issued mentioning the use to Canada? I am afraid that for getting it verified in the Canadian Embassy I would need the translated certificate and It my take more time than I have available. I have 8 days left to do all this.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Luana

At the very least, you’ll need to get your PCC translated or else they are bound to reject your application.

I think you can try to submit it as it is, then submit a LOE explaining that you will send the translated version as soon as possible... This way, CIC might not reject your application outright, and will request the translated PCC via Additional Documents Request.

A translated version I am sure I can get until submmiting the documents to CIC, my question is if the sworn-translation can be done in my country of residence or it has to be done in Spain.
Anyway, I will try to get it legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and verified by Canadian Embassy in time to submmit it to CIC and if I can't I will write a LoE informing I will submmit it after.

Additionnally I will pray so they can understand my case!

Thank you for you help!

Only seeing this now...If you plan to send one which is not translated then it is a very high risk....but again that is your call to make. regarding the legalization, if it were possible it would be better to apply for a new certificate and have them legailise it and send again,,,if it were translated then you could submit and explain in LOE that you have applied for another that should be arriving legalized and show proof...
however, one of the greatest reasons for rejection is PCC (you can check the forums), so if it is not translated (unless you really have no option you might want to consider decline your invitations and getting it translated). If you apply now you would be leaving your application at the mercy of an officer since by requirements the officer has a right to reject i) a certificate not translated and ii) one which is not legalized...
Hope this info helps
