So quick question as I haven't done any of his before. I'm Canadian and am applying to sponsor my boyfriend who is Australian. Now we have applied while we are in New Zealand as we will be here until next year. If I get approved as a sponsor where does the actual partnership visa get processed? Is it in Canada or does it get sent else where. I only ask because I have seen things mentioned about applications being sent back over seas for processing. Thanks for any advice!

The visa gets processed at the visa office that would apply to the principal applicant (in this case your boyfriend), which I believe would be in Sidney. You could say the process has two stages. First, the sponsor, which is processed in Mississauga. Then, the principal applicant, which is processed in the visa office that applies to the principal applicant (usually is in the country where he/she lives, sometimes they have a VO designated for the specific country. A visa office, let's say London office, can process applications from different countries, not just England)

Once you get the barcode using this link, You need to print the barcode page and attach it in the application right after the check list. Once CIC receives the application they open and scan the barcode to provide confirmation that CIC received the application.

hey everyone. sent in our application (Im Canadian hoping to sponsor my Irish husband) on July 31st with registered post with signature from An Post but the jerks neglected to tell us we couldnt track it outside of Ireland so we dont know if its been delivered ): hoping the AOR wont take too long. luckily i signed up for the text message option. they really make that info hard to find.

Canada post Xpress Post is one of the best way to send your documents, it takes only 2 working days within Canada to reach Mississauga office. If you are spouse is living outside Canada and you are living in Canada then you should send your application at:
