hi everyone! so today I got my assessment result from CARNA. they gave me two options:
1. take the ARNAP
2. do the full bridging program

the thing is, I'm not confident to take the ARNAP since I have a 2 years gap clinical experience. so I phoned CARNA regarding bridging program and they said that there are 100-120 IEN applicants ahead of me waiting to be accepted in MRU (Mount Royal University)because the government won't give much money to support the study since the Alberta economy is down right now. so CARNA says, if ever I will do the bridging I have to wait like 1-2 years just to be accepted in the university and by that time I have to take English language exam again because my CELBAN will expire on 2018. and I have to complete my bridging program before 2021 or else I have to take ARNAP and Bridging together. which is more expensive and time wasting.
I really want to take the bridging program. my other problem is, I don't drive in the main highway. we are 1 and 1/2 hour away from the university.

any suggestions please? I'm losing my hope :'(
thank you in advance

@Legentellison Where did you work as a nurse? I wonder if country where you had your nursing experience will matter or not.

I think you should attempt the ARNAP. Just study your brains out and practice, practice, practice! There are lots of resources out there to help study for IENCAP and ARNAP is basically a copy of IENCAP! Touchstone Institute administers both of them and I had a look at the participant guide...almost the exact same! Honestly at this point, what do you have to lose? Nothing! Because at this rate, taking the bridging program is only an option in theory. It's not an actual option, given that your language test and likely your safe practice and all these other things will be expired and you'll need to do them again. Plus, candidates have likely been accepted for this coming autumn, which puts you at 2018 start at the earliest, but likely not since there are so many ahead of you... the chances of getting all of this done with the right timing are slim. So you have nothing to lose by doing the ARNAP. It might actually be passable. Imagine you didn't attempt it but it was totally passable? What a waste that would be to not try! That's my input, anyway. It's expensive, but this whole thing is expensive and disorganized. We can't fix that, but you can try your best to pass ARNAP.

After new rule introduced by CNO in Sep 2016 that CNO will review the experience of International Applicant & on the basis of that they may skip the IENCAP/OSCE exam.

My application is under review since 20th March 2017 for an outcome that if my OSCE will be skipped or not. I wanna know who are others in the same boat & since for how long their application is under review in CNO in this regard. Please share your timelines

I'm really confused right now. I still have 30 days to think about this.

what is IENCAP? where did you get this participant guide? do you have a link? can you please share? is there any review material that I can read for this ARNAP? thank you
yes the application for fall and winter is already closed. the next available would be for School year 2018-2019, which is if ever I will apply it's not 100% my application will be accepted.
what I understand is, I have to pass this ARNAP because there is no second attempt. from ARNAP result they will evaluate if I still need to get courses or go to the next step which is to take NCLEX.

this whole process is so stressing from NNAS to regulatory body. :(

So my file is ready for final review and I received an email saying my birth certificate doesn't have my name on it and my PRC id does not have my middle name on it. It's just really weird that NNAS has not checked my birth certificate well. As far as I'm concerned, My name is written on my birth certificate and of course they will not see my maiden name on my PRC Id because I have renewed it last year using my married name which is why I provided a marriage certificate. I email them back indicating which part of the document my name is written also let them know I am already married. Omg this is just really frustrating. Anyways, I still hope they find my name and understood my email well. Or else I have to call them to explain it. Hoping for the best

Do you have a copy/photocopy/scan of your birth certificate? If so, scan and email to them, and ask them to scan and email you the copy that they have. I can't imagine your birth certificate does not have your name. They do this kind of thing all the time to explain delays. There was a girl on another forum who was told by NNAS that her school did not check a box off on the nursing education paperwork. NNAS insisted and insisted. Luckily the person at her school who prepared the documents had copies of all documents sent to NNAS. The checkbox was checked off--NNAS was not telling the truth, unfortunately. So please, if you are certain that your birth certificate has your name on it (which I am sure it does), make sure you stick up for yourself. You have sent all appropriate documents and they should have checked this before even reviewing your education.

Thanks for the advice! I'll sure do that right away. Anyways, do you happen to know their email address because I'm just using "CoNtact Us" in the menu to reply their message. Thanks!!

You could call and ask for the email of your evaluator/assessor, or otherwise try support@nnas.ca

IENCAP is almost the exact same exam as ARNAP, except IENCAP has been running a bit longer so there are more study materials and advice available. Here is the guide for it. http://www.touchstoneinstitute.ca/Touchstone/media/Orientation/IENCAP-Participant-Guide.pdf
When you register for ARNAP choose a date that is a ways away so you have time to prepare.
Just like IENCAP, there is no second chance for ARNAP. So if you fail it, then you have to do the bridging program. So what is the harm in attempting the ARNAP? If you pass, you are ahead of the game! If you fail, you are no further behind than you would be waiting to see if you can get into a bridging program. The bridging program has no intention of making sure there are enough spaces for those who require it, trust me.
My vote is for ARNAP.
