Good day all. I'm searching for any Pharmacist that got ECA from WES bcos they don't want to sit for licensure exams straight away and it was accepted by CIC. Mine was rejected and PEBC is expensive as it is time consuming.

Expert opinions pls

You've had your answer on what you need to do and CIC are very clear on what you have to do. PEBC may be expensive, but that is required in some instances. Find a province that doesnt require you to get one, however in the future if you want to practice you will have to get one anyway.

You do not need to sit any PEBC exam in order to get your credentials assessed by PEBC. You only need to get your documents evaluated and no exam is required. If your nominated NOC is pharmacist you can go for WES. Some pharmacists do work in other NOCs like University lecturer, Biologists ....etc , in this case you can go for WES.

Pretty sure OP already understands this.

I know a physician who got their ECA done by WES instead of MCC and got PR, but this was pre-Express Entry.

If your profession requires licensure then PEBC (ex: hospital pharmacist, nuclear pharmacist, retail pharmacist, etc) , if not then WES (for example: Pharmaceutical lab tech, drug salesman, university lecturer, etc.).

Hello All,

I have applied under NOC 3131- Industrial Pharmacist, My work experince is in Pharmaceutical Industry and I have done my evaluation through WES, since I have not worked as a pharmacist.

Do I need to get evaluation done by PEBC. Since, it is mentioned under NOC 3131 category that " If you intend to work as a pharmacist you need to get your credentials assessed by PEBC" and I have done evaluation through WES on the basis that I do not intend to work as a Pharmacist and working in the Pharma industry do not require to get licensed or credentials assessed by PEBC.

Is this justification enough for CIC to evaluate my application? Is there anyone who had same scenario as mine.

Thanks

If your primary noc in your application is 3131, then you have to do it.

He doesn't need the evaluation by PEBC as PEBC will require letter of good standing from his licensure board or pharmacy in his country. PEBC evaluation is only for licensed pharmacists like hospital, nuclear, and retail pharmacists. Otherwise it should be evaluated by WES only.

From CIC website:
How to choose a designated organization
If you are applying:
as a specialist physician (NOC 3111) or general practitioner/family physician (NOC 3112), the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) must do an ECA for your primary medical diploma,
as a pharmacist (NOC 3131):
if you need a license to practice (for example, providing patient care in a community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, long term care facility or other practice settings) the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) must do your ECA,
if you are in a position where you do not need a license (organizations such as the pharmaceutical industry and government which require a pharmacy degree because of the education or skill set, but may not require a licence to practice pharmacy), you can have your credentials assessed by one of the other designated ECA organizations. Contact the regulatory authority in the province where you plan to live to find out if you need a licence to practice your intended occupation.
under any other occupation, check the websites of the other CIC-designated organizations or contact them directly to find which one best suits your needs. Consider:
Some designated organizations partner with certain regulatory bodies or large employers. In that case, the ECA you get for applying to CIC might also help you later on.
For each one, you should check to find out what other organizations recognize their assessments.
Find out what documents you need.
Find out how much it will cost. Costs may vary by organization.
Find out how long an assessment will take.

Thanks @julientran,
I really thought in the same way as you have mentioned as my only intention is to work in the pharmaceutical industry and not as a pharmacist. I was just concerned since NOC is same for retail/hospital and industrial pharmacist. It creates a confusing situation for one to decide whether they need to get evaluation done from PEBC or WES.

I have seen this topic many times on these forums and I always wonder why.
Yes, if you are not going to practice as a pharmacist you can get you degree/credentials checked by another body such as WES.

But everyone should really consider this (and this is why I don't understand why anyone would not go through PEBC). When applying for EE, the most important thing is to max out your CRS score. Being a professional degree that requires licensing, you automatically max out your education points at 135 vs 120 (if single) and only go higher if you have a PhD. There is no need to do anything else or get a second masters degree assessed (as this combination yields a lower score).

But it is entirely up to you, but if you can afford to throw away points like that. Go for WES.

No I did not report anything to WES as I am Industrial Pharmacist or whatsoever, I have just applied for evaluation and sent my transcripts. Can you explain your reply in detail. There is no provision to show WES as what you have done or what you are doing. As far as PEBC is concerned, they evaluate the entry level pharmacy degree and with B. Pharm transcript they can give ECA equivalent to Professional Pharmacy degree. My question is if one has M.pharm degree and does not intend to work as a Pharmacist, does WES evaluation suffice the requirements of CIC or not?
Thanks

Hi, If you have work experience of a retail pharmacist. You must go through PEBC.
