I have one question about the PR application. Do we still need to fill it and carry with us when we land for the first time in Canada. My wife received her PR (IM-1) visa and soon soon she is coming to Canada. She is coming to Canada for the first time.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the great support and guidance.

I have a confusion. When I was applying for immigration, I had given a higher amount for the amount of assets I have. Now, when I do the landing, do I have to show the same amount or it could be any amount? From the source below, it seems to me that I have to bring 15,143 CAD for 2 people. I plan to stay for a week only and then come back in 2 years to settle permanently. What should I do regarding ' proof of funds'. What is the best mode/method/document of giving this proof. Many thanks for your help.

Dear seniors,

I have a question regarding getting a NEW PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD AFTER THE FIRST LANDING.

It is true that once we do the initial landing , the immigration officer applies for our New PR card at the airport itself.

So my question is that , how much time does it take to get the PR card delivered to our mailing address ? I mean for e.g. if I land tomorrow to Canada and the Processing time displayed on the CIC website on that day is 50 days … So does this mean that like , around 50-60 days at maximum we will get our PR card in hand ? Or this can shoot up to 100 - 150 days as well ? Or it also depends upon the time we land ? Like someone was saying that in summers the processing for a NEW PR CARD is faster e.t.c. e.t.c. … So what was the experience of the ppl who landed in the month of july … were the processing quick ?

Seniors , please advice … or anyone who has been through the same stage please help in this regard.

Thanks..

It will be delivered to mailing address at time of landing and usually it will take standard time as per CIC website.

When you land the officer will fill your COPR form, and will trigger the PR card application/processing. You are expected to provide a canadian address, PoF and answer a couple of generic questions. Yes, this process will happen at the airport.

PR processing timeline is posted on IRCC/CIC website, yes it does vary throughout the year (now its at 53 calendar days)..you need to check it close to your landing date and whatever duration you see posted their will likely apply to you.

Okay , so for instance the day I land , it says the processing time is about 53 days , so I should expect to get my PR Card delivered within 53-63 days ? Or it can take up to 70 or 80 days as well ? ? ?

if then you land it said 53 days, that means you will get it in 53 days.

I landed in 2013, at that time it was 45 calendar days...and exactly on the 45th day the PR card was sitting in the mailbox.

Hi All,

I have a question regarding TRANSIT VISA in UK.
I am Pakistani citizen, living in Singapore on employment pass. I am planning to do my landing in few weeks time for 10-15 days and return back to Singapore and then relocate to Canada later next year.

I am booking my tickets through BA and have a transit in UK two times i)While going to Canada and ii) while coming back to Singapore. Through the UK immigration website it seems that there is an exemption for UK transit visa if you have Valid Canadian Visa while going to Canada. but during my return to Singapore, i wont be having Canada PR card (although i will be having Singapore employment pass-work visa).

Do I need transit VISA for UK both times.
I checked with UK immigration, they said it depends on UK immigration officer, so I am bit confuse now.

Thanks

So, you must be issued an IM1 Immigrant visa. You can only use it once. So, here's how it's gonna work

Singapore -> UK -> Canada
You do not need Transit visa as you would have a valid entry visa of Canada (your final destination)

Canada -> UK -> Singapore
[EDIT] You do not need transit visa because your IM1 Immigrant (single entry) visa have been used and you are now performing a return journey.

Make sure it's a return ticket.

You shouldn't ask UK immigration. You should ask British Airways. They are the ones who are going to allow/refuse entry into plane (at Singapore Airport)

Hi

Thanks for reply.

Yes, i did check with BA also, there reply
"Thank you for contacting British Airways.
We are unable fulfil your request, you will need to contact the VFS/Canadian high commission or Embassy for the transit Visa information.
"

You NEED transit visa because UK only consider visas of Canada, New Zealand, Australia and USA to exempt transit visa. (And you will not have a PR card to show)

I can't help much with it.

I believe you're better off avoiding UK when leaving Canada as it may complicate things with 'Transit Visa' issue. Use Qatar Airways or Turkish Airways. Which city are you planning to land?

But it's a one time issue. It's better to pay more than to get stuck and go ???
