hello,
i am PR of canada and looking for the job of a sonographer(one who does ultrasound examination). i am certified with the american registry (which all jobs want ) and have been applying for the jobs but i dont get any interviews.
i happen to talk with one of the recruiters and she says that i dont have canadian work experience though i do have about 5-6 years experience from my home country.
i am kind of disheartened .how to crack the ice?

are you ARDMS registered

@cimple,,,,,please reply,,,i am ARDMS registerd in three specialities.
but still my resume is not picked up.

my resume is typically canadian style,,,,
please suggest what shud i do?
waiting for the reply from your side

sumeetmann,

i am not in your field and giving you any advice but just wanted to say that sucks. you have experience in the us, registered in canada, and nothing? this very scares me. i came here because of my husband's job, just finished pr application. we never thought i would have problems finding a job in canada with my education and experience in japan and qualification in the us. working for half salary in the same field/level i have experience is the best compromise. i would stay unemployed rather than working in restaurants or cleaning. i am ready to go back to japan if i don't find a job.

i am not sure why your resume is not picked up.infact i was thinking to start to do my ARDMS registration bt the way your position i have to think twice to think to go for sonography

Canadian experience matters in this country. Try to get involved in volunteer work to gain Canadian experience. Canada seems to like free labour :D!

I have 2 BAs, in Japan and in Canada, management experience in the US, professional career over 15 years and am doing cleaning (occasionally). Of course your luck will be depending on your profession and location. Economies is not favorable right now in BC. Good luck!

I have no idea where you are in Canada but would you relocate to another part of Canada?

Here is what I have found on Sonographers:

Congrats! It is hard enough to get a volunteer position some times. But you made the first step. Keep on trying.

Hi, I am landing in Canada soon as PR, I would like to know if you were hired as a full time sonographer with your ARDMS credential? Or did you have to take the Sonography Canada examination? Thank you!
