Hello Everyone,

I have a question in Financial Evaluation for Parents Sponsorship form (IMM 5768). In Q 15, where we have to provide employment history, there is a column for ' Gross income/ benefits ' and Family Size?

What should we put in Gross income, is it our annual income from job?

For Family size, if a person is not married, should we just write 1?

Thanks

Would like to thanks everyone who are guiding us to fill out the forms properly.

I have few more questions (might be silly :()

1. IMM 5569: In question 9,10,11 are not applicable for me. The forms says to write NONE in the box. Should I write NONE in all the boxes or only the boxes in the first row?

2. IMM 5768: Should I write "Not applicable" in qn 10, 11 or it is better to keep it blank? Those are not applicable for me.

3. IMM 5768: Question 15- What should I put in Gross income? Isn't it the income mentioned in NOA for 2014 (Qn 9- income for 2014)? In Family Size, should I include my parents(to be sponsored) or it is just me, my wife and my kid?

4. IMM 5768: As my wife is not a co signer, should I write "Not applicable" in all boxes for Question no 18 and 19?

Thanks in advance. Have a good day!

The line 150 from your NOA

For Family size, if a person is not married, should we just write 1?

Thanks
That will be the total number of the persons you are sponsoring (e.g mom+dad+dependent child) plus your family (you+wife/husband+child)

I was employed from 2012 to 2015 in the same job.
Do I need to enter it like: 2012-01-01 to Present and sum up the amount for 2012,2013, 2014 or i need to individually write employment history to split for for every year for 2012, 2013 and 2014.?

For 2014-01-01 to Present, should it be total of 2014 income or 2014+2015 income till date?

A question on Family Size under Financial Evaluation Form: should the number of family size be the same for each consecutive tax year? As for me, my youngest baby wasn't born yet in year 2012 and 2013. So technically, the number differs each year. Also, should we provide employment and income information for 2012, 2013, 2014, and January 1, 2015 to (present)? We will just leave the gross income section for period from January 1, 2015 to present blank?

Which courier company would you choose this year? I used Canada Post last year. I will never ever use it again.

Thanks!

3 Things that people are asking here over and over without seeing previous replies (has been answered before):

1. Q15 Employment History of Financial Evaluation Form (IMM5768)
We made a big fuss about it last year. In fact, I called CIC few times to clarify. Clearly, the heading says "Income for last 3 taxation years" which means 2012-2014; but the word "Present" in first column confuses you. So, I broke it down to 3 rows, each representing a year which corresponds to my income shown in my NOA line 150. Keep the same format (3 rows) even if you worked with same employer. For 2016 applicants, this should look like this:
For same employer
From To Employer Address Phone Gross Income Family Size
2014-01-01 Present Company A 123 123 2014 NOA Line 150 5
2013-01-01 2013-12-31 Company A 123 123 2013 NOA Line 150 5
2012-01-01 2012-12-31 Company A 123 123 2012 NOA Line 150 5

For multiple employers
From To Employer Address Phone Gross Income Family Size
2014-01-01 Present Company A 123 123 2014 NOA Line 150 5
2013-07-01 2013-12-31 Company A 123 123 2013 T4 (Company A) 5
2013-01-01 2013-06-30 Company B 456 456 2013 T4 (Company B) 5
2012-01-01 2012-12-31 Company B 456 456 2012 NOA Line 150 5
* Make sure both T4's add up to the total income stated for your 2013 NOA

2. Q15 Family Size of Financial Evaluation Form (IMM5768)
The full family meaning Sponsor's family + Parents + Dep. For above example, it's 5 (husband+wife+1 kid+father+mother). Even if you were single in 2012, got married in 2013 and had a kid in 2014; you shouldn't bother writing different numbers in family size.

3. What courier service should you use?
Well, I answered it in my original post. No one can absolutely guarantee one specific courier company that you can reply on. CanadaPost has proved to be the most inefficient last year. Local express service in GTA did well in 2015. But I assume more people this year will be interested in using them. Out of UPS, Purolator and Fedex, the latter seems better to me. But this subject can still be discussed among you.

Thank you so much!

I just read previous posts. Someone mentioned "Metro Mississauga Courier". They have speciality service for this! I also looked the the spreadsheet for the successful applicants last year, looks like most of them used large companies such as Fedex, Purolator...Has anyone used Metro Mississauga Courier before?

Also, there are still at least two forms (payment form, and application for sponsorship) are dated in 2014. Should we wait for the updated 2015 forms?

Thank you!

I think the forms won't update because the following website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/parents.asp states that "You can now get the 2016 application package on this site.", which means that cic has already updated the 2016 application on their website and they might not update the forms.

Hey Everyone!

This form has been very helpful so far.

We are living in Quebec and planning to sponsor our parents. However, our family income is sufficient only for years 2013, 2014, 2015 (as per federal LICO) but as per CIC website we need to show proof pf income for years 2012, 2013, 2014(Our income for year 2012 is less than LICO). I have seen at this forum people saying "for Quebec residents we need to show only 1 year income". Is it true?

Thanks in advance for all your inputs!

Hi Rossei,

Your information’s are very accurate and helpful. Really appreciate your work. I have some question to you and wish to get reply. Thanks a lot in advance.

Q 1) About family member:
Me and my husband = 2
My mon + dad + brother (who is 12 years of old)= 3 (want to sponsor this 3 person)

My husband applied for his parents in 2015 for super visa and they got it .
Now my husband will be cosigner for my parent’s sponsorship application. In that situation do I need to consider them as family member too as they are under super visa?

So I guess, I need to show the income for 7 person ( Me and my husband(2)+ my mon,dad and bro(3)+ my husband’s mom and dad (2) = 7).

Q 2) About financial Evaluation:

I’m applying under Quebec family sponsorship. So have to fulfill the income for last one year but not for previous 3 years.

But In IMM5768E form , they mentioned to fill up the income for previous 3 years therefore should I have to fill it up for previous 3 years or only for 2014?. I am guessing they will consider the income only 2014 for financial evaluation as I’m applying under Quebec. Let me know if I’m right or wrong.

Q3 ) I just start working from September, 2014 and still working and So I had minimum income for 2014. But my husband himself had income for more than 7 person for 2014.

As I’m planning to apply for 2016, in that case, I have to fulfill the income for 2014 not for 2015 right?(we both have good income in 2015)

Q 4) Do I need to send my parents marriage certificate? Is it mandatory?
(Me and My husband both are Canadian citizen from April 2015)

That is not true. It is biggest misconception.
Quebec people need to satisfy both federal and quebec policy. Right now quebec only expect to check 1 year income.
In hypothetical case, if quebec make rule to check 5 year income. Then u have to satisfy 5 year apart from 3 year federal rules.

After CIC paused Parents & Grandparents Sponsorship Program (PGP) back in Nov, 2011 for 24 months in order to eliminate , it re-opened the program with 5,000 cap (FCFS/FIFO method) on the number of applications in 2014. Soon it turned out to be a big challenge to make it to 5,000 cap.

Being one of the 2015 PGP applicants, I've seen the stressful period that members of this forum went through. So, here I am to give you some tips for upcoming PGP application hurdle:

1. Use Updated Forms:
- CIC tends to update various PGP application forms every year. For 2014 PGP program, it updated form(s) at the eleventh hour; but for 2015, the latest form was dated November, 2014. So, get informed about the updates and only submit the latest forms from CIC website.

- Make sure you fill all the required forms correctly. Signature fields are very important not to leave empty. It's always a dilemma for those whose parents/grandparents live in home country and you need to have their signature on updated forms before CIC re-opens PGP. Well, you have to take chances here and sort it out yourself.

- All forms (for both 'sponsorship' and 'permanent residence') need to be submitted at the same time unless CIC changes the rules.

- Remember: You are the 'sponsor'and your one of the parents is the 'principal applicant'.

- It's convenient to choose the family size to be same for each year you have to enter in the forms.
(Family Size = Your family + Your Parent(s) + Accompanying Dependents)

2. Start Gathering Supporting Documents:
- If you haven't done so, start gathering all your supporting docs now for 2016. Follow Instruction Guide IMM5772 and Checklist IMM5771.

- The most important document that you (and co-signer if applicable) require to submit is your NOA or Option C for the last 3 taxation years. Since the checklist doesn't say if they have to be original, it's convenient to order Option C by calling CRA. Usually, it takes 2 weeks to deliver. DO NOT try to suffice this requirement by submitting online printouts or any other income proof (T4 or Pay Stubs).

3. Choose Your Courier Wisely:
- This is perhaps the biggest challenge just to send the application in time. In 2014, it took 19 days to fill out the 5000 cap whereas it took only 1 and half day in 2015. So, you can imagine what can happen in 2016. I can bet that only the applicants left out from 2014 & 2015 can fill out 2016 quota themselves.

- In order to deliver your application package on the very first day (preferably by noon) CIC re-opens PGP; you have to choose your courier wisely. Since PGP applications are to be sent to CPC-Mississauga, applicants living in GTA have advantage over the rest of the people. Many large courier services (like UPS, Purolator) couldn't deliver on time as promised in 2015. CanadaPost posted wrong time stamp of delivery. The local express services available in GTA proved to be the most efficient in 2015.

- CIC initially checks for the following things. If any of them is missing, it will not count among 5000 even in case of yours reaching CPC-M on time.
  • All forms are in the application package
  • Latest forms have been used
  • No blanks (especially in signature field)
  • NOA/Option C provided for last 3 taxation years
  • Correct method of payment used

4. Use Correct Method of Payment:
- Incorrect amount or method of payment will result in rejection. Follow Instruction Guide IMM5772.

- If you make it to 5000 cap; CIC will withdraw/encash your payment within 1~4 weeks. This is the unofficial sign of initial acceptance. If you used your credit card info on Payment Form IMM5770, you will see the withdrawal within minutes/hours on your online bank statement.

- In 2014, CIC sent the official AOR in 6 months while in 2015, we received email AOR within 3 months. Some were able to see their E-Cas activated with 'Received' status within 1.5 months.

I hope this info helps you get inside 5,000 cap. Feel free to look at our 2015 timeline spreadsheet (link given in my signature). :)
Hi Rossei,

you mentioned

"CIC initially checks for the following things. If any of them is missing, it will not count among 5000 even in case of yours reaching CPC-M on time.
All forms are in the application package
Latest forms have been used"

I have a few forms that do not apply to me such as the Additional Dependents and the Common law union and some supporting documents. I was not planning on including them in the package and not checking the box in the document checklist. Is this the correct way to do this?

Thanks for your help
