What is meant by counterfoil in GCMS?

Here's the only reference I've found so far. Look under "Visa counterfoil"

http://www.cic.gc.ca/cic-index/english/v.asp

But then I saw that in our GCMS notes it says NO under counterfoil, and he's not visa exempt. So I'm a bit confused now.

Thank you
I am trying to decode GCMS
The following link unfortunately did not help
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/caips-codes-t2988.0.html
any idea what is;
TFR- eligibility!

This could help:

"Permanent resident travel document (visa counterfoil) for permanent resident without a Permanent Resident Card (see Appendix I, item 4). Permanent residents outside Canada who do not have a Permanent Resident Card and who would be unable to otherwise return to Canada may obtain a permanent resident travel document from a Canadian mission abroad. This is a counterfoil in the same format as a visa and is affixed to the permanent resident's passport or travel document."

From Merriam Webster: coun·ter·foil noun \-ˌfȯi(-ə)l\
: a detachable stub (as on a check or ticket) usually serving as a record or receipt.

As far as I understood, the CAIPS note codes are no longer valid for GCMS, so the link won't make much sense for the current system.

As for the TFR-eligibility, I really don't know. I did some search when we received ours, but nothing good came out of it. If I wanted to guess I'd say it means it's being transferred and the next step is gonna be determining the applicant's eligibility.

Did you receive yours yet, btw?

The notes are very frustrating and they merely show that CIC is leaving files to collect some dirt :( !
The whole file is empty it has few dates of file transfer from CPC-M to CPP-O and other dates for paper file transfer. The file took 2months to get transfered from CPC-M to CPP-O! I even got my approval before the full paper transfer. Few dates for switching CPC-M from primary and CPP-O as secondary to CPP-O as primary!

Jamgirl....my notes said that as well and he has a visa counterfoil in his passport right now as of Oct 4/12......maybe it has to do with a previous one being issued and then expired??? just a thought.......

i start to dig in the GCMS notes as well; i didn't go into it deeper so i'm sure i'll come back with some questions too; for us at counterfoil says NO; i think if the applicant would b from a visa exempt country it would say YES; which means that since s/he is visa exempt there is no need to attach the visa in the passport and no need of other procedures; if s/he is not visa exempt than the extra procedures need to take place, the passport needs to b valid, the visa will b in it (no counterfoil ;)) either yes or no, nothing to worry about

no here is the question for u ;) there r lots of sections there some with 0 some with 1 (and then written not started); my guess is the ones with 0 r the ones which will not b done at all, and the ones with 1 r the ones which have to b done (and then they will b in progress, complete, so on); am i close?

and i think TFR means something else ::) need to do some more research

actually this is good thank u :)

i think we should all have counterfoil NO since the applicants r not PR yet and they were not before; once they r PR and let's say their PR card expired, they r outside Canada and they want to return, they will make a request and they will get this counterfoil; it's a little different than a PR visa; so again nothing to worry

Now I should worry mine says YES!

hmm maybe i should worry then ::) ::) but i won't since i have no idea what it means; we r poor guessers; we need to dig deeper abt what it means exactly; don't worry!!!!!!
but did u actually receive urs? i understood from the other thread that u didn't or u just asked for the 2nd set of notes? :)
