Hello Everybody. I applied to sponsor my Parents and submitted the application in December 2022. I got eligibility approval in 2024 and did biometrics and passed medical in 2024. I have not heard anything since receiving the pre-arrival letter late 2024. The medicals have since expired and the delayed process is really frustrating.

I am at a loss at what to do and how to stay motivated with this rather frustratingly snail-pace of processing. There has been no updates on this site https://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/mycic/home for years. When I try to check the CAS Client Application Status portal, they don't find any result. Is there a way to get better updates on the application status?

Any advice or insight is highly appreciated. Many thanks

Where are your parents from? Do they have any military, police, higher level gvt, etc experience? Agree you should order GCMS. PGP timelines are extremely variable. Having to redo medicals is fairly common with PGP: That said many would gladly trade spots and be on the path to sponsorship.

Hi. Thanks for the response. My parents are from Kenya, and they have no military, police or any government experience or background. Kindly guide me on how to order GCMS. I am glad to have been selected and given a chance, but the sheer unpredictability of the process is very frustrating, as it leaves people in limbo and in state of uncertainty, but thanks for your input.

Hi There. We're in the same boat. It's truly frustrating how slow the process is. I've been waiting for 41 months.

I recommend you apply for ATIP (Access to Information and Privacy Program) and pay $5. This will allow you to track your case's progress. The website is: https://atip-aiprp.tbs-sct.gc.ca/

If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one. You should receive an email with your case details in about a month.

That's what I did, and that's when I found out my case had been stuck with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for almost two years. I initially thought it was with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), but it wasn't. I emailed the CBSA, and my case was processed quickly.

Unfortunately, my background check has passed, but I'm still waiting for the final decision from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). That's just how IRCC works; you can only wait and do nothing.
Thanks for the detailed response. I will try my luck with ATIP and see where this leads. When you emailed CBSA, they completed the background check faster, right? Hope that leads to successful completion of your application.
