Anybody here not from India waiting for the background verification? :)

I checked immitracker and figured that India and UK are the fastest to get BG clearance and hence PPR, for the rest it takes apx 6-8 months to pass the verification.
Not from India and Still waiting for mine, last update was June 30, 2025

Now we are nearing the end of August. There's got to be some glitch in the system lol, cause its been reported over 45 percent of the approvals so far are from india. so not too sure what's going on.

I think it's more about the number of applicants and hence more "standard" docs for IRCC. Everything is pretty known, all the formats and authorities to provide the documents, all common tricks and sources of misrepresentation etc.

And here we are - applicants with less "default" documents, translations etc, so it takes more time to check the documents are legit and there's no BS in the application, comparing to countries like India (huge number of applicants), UK and US (quick info sharing). At least this is my theory :)

Just a fun exercise to do on immitracker:
- choose the status "bg check in progress"
- sort by application submission date
- scroll all the way down to look for the oldest active apps with BG verification still in progress
- enjoy the list of countries very different from what is normally seen when browsing the tracker :)

That 2 and half months of waiting from when she passed her medical to finally receiving an update for PPR has been really stressful not gonna lie. Now she's all set to fly here next month.

Hi, I’m wondering when you received your passport back (after stamp) and CoPR?

PA just got an email from the officer stating that there are concerns that we meet conjugal partnership criteria as there's no barrier for us to live together

Basically, it is "you guys spend too much time together, why don't you just love together and apply as common-law"? Never heard of cases like that before.

We responded within an hour stating everything as it is:
- I (the sponsor) have kids from previous marriage and need to be with them in Canada
- I've been working hybrid for the past 2+ years and can only travel during vacation, and only stayed with my fiance when I was looking for a new job or during vacations
- her passport does not allow her to "just come to Canada and live here with me"

Also, attached to signed offers (past and current job) stating my working location.

Please somebody tell me it's gonna be alright, I just can't

I mean... I've seen a lot of "not enough evidence" discussions and requests

We're the opposite: all the evidence of the world, I've been living between continents for the past 1.5 years, public Instagram accounts with a bunch of photos and reels together, traveling to multiple countries. And the officer just hits us with "there are evidence of the relationship, but seems like you choose to not live together"

was just thinking you

It will be alright, it will work out, i'm praying for all of us.

and that is ridiculous statement from the officer, especially when you have commitment and take care of everyone,. Your explanation sounds very reasonable to a unreasonable statement regarding their criteria

I totally understand that the position is strong, and this is just a clarification request, but omg this is nerve wrecking

Wouldn’t sound like extenuating circumstances to VO, he could simply say why not just wait till vacation and get married or why didn’t you on your last visit

VO from where you get this email?
How did you replied?
Through web form or cic a/c?
Recd any acknowledgement for the same?

There was no question about marriage (which is impossible as country of nationality and residence is different for PA, which is explained in the initial application).

The clarification was asked specifically about living together for a year and applying as common-law

Also, the funny thing is - no updates on the tracker whatsoever. We basically received a PFL, submitted the response, got auto acknowledgements from the VO and IRCC, and the tracker be like: last updated July 11 :D
