Wow! Even the Bloc Québécois are speaking out against the insane levels of immigration brought in by the Liberal party. The liberals are getting flushed in the polls. If things don’t change, the Liberals might get relegated to a minority party for a very long time.

Posted this in March after looking at how bad the rental market really was(and giving out my personal info for rental felt so dumb): https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/newcomer-pr-mortgage-questions.791545/

Bought my home yesterday. I landed here earlier this month for context. I posted most of what I had planned in that thread and it worked just as I thought it would. Feel free to browse what I did. I also feel happy to receive DMs from other immigrants who read my posts and were able to buy their homes post-landing too.

Some realizations:
1. for all the crash talk, there are a LOT of people with millions of dollars in cash who take any investment opportunity they can - the market is highly likely to not crash(can do down, but won't crash) as these people can easily wait out 5 years of tough market. Non-investors would crack first.
2. you'll always be forced on "investment opportunities", "keeping low equity", "flipping", etc and other lifestyle bs. There's money to be made there for sure, but it is something that deeply damages the market for some many others that there's a moral decision that one needs to make.
3. buying cheap = peace of mind. RE investments are not everything - it is purely lazy, unintelligent money that screws up our own fellow residents who one day would want to be able to buy a home to start their families.
4. if you are buying in a market like Calgary, be prepared to lose $30k-60k in future if you move out of the city due to job loss or in-search of better opportunities.
Congrats and thanks for sharing

Passport submission deadline extension

Hi, I received invitation letter to submit my passport for entry visa on 13th Oct. However, I am on vacation at the moment and cannot submit my passport within the due time.

AOR May 2023. Express Entry.

Has anyone requested for an extension for passport submission?? What was the outcome? What is the procedure?

Thanks in advance.

Wait are you in Canada right now? If so , you could just call IRCC yourself. I did, took me almost a year before my PR card arrived, and I was constantly calling them to follow up.
Yes I can, I called them in June, July and Aug. Then after seeing the laziness and incompetence of the employees and broken system and processes I simply got fed up . I only order GCMS notes, my wife calls them but no progress still though. GCMS I try to order once monthly and timing is such that CBSA notes and IRCC notes have 2 weeks of each other.

In all this mess I should appreciate CBSA, they are quite regular in giving notes in exactly 30 days. But there also kings/queens in CBSA also, who sometimes come up with demands for copious amounts of forms that I need to fill before they release the notes to me, some even make me get my parents and in-laws also to sign such disclosure forms, even though their names are not in the notes, but hey when a officer majesty asks who am I to say no, they would pass death sentence to me, I comply :p .

But IRCC is lazy, my notes never come on time in 30 days as promised by law, also their ATIP emails ID needs 2-3 reminders before they send the notes. Often it comes 65-75 days after I raised them. There is supposedly a commissioner also to over see this laziness but that Commissioner takes 3-4 months to even look at our request which make our GCMS notes come after 6-7 months. Hail IRCC, Hail Canada Govt and Hail JT Hail holy croissant for the awesome service the departments they manage provide me after CRA collecting the highest tax% I have paid ever in my life.

Reaching out to the MP, for all the tax we pay why not make the bulky governments machinery do some work for me was my idea.

Considerable number of transcript scammers on this forum. If anyone suggests anything here, do look into their posting history to make sure you aren't trusting a scammer.
Do Lambdas use false transcripts and cheat IRCC?

I start to wonder why is this called "lambda"? It sounds like a covid variant. Maybe we have alpha, beta, delta, and omicron as well?
It refers to international students that attend colleges like "Lambton college". It seems to be a running joke in this thread. Just goes to show how much of an echo chamber this thread has become :D

Canada is ridiculous they needed a Auditor General to land up with a massive team and wine and dine with all the big boy/gals of IRCC and now release a report they are inefficient. I who get paid lot less, much lower in the food chain knew this and have been telling this for months now.

Public service career salary bands are crazy in Canada. I had a choice to pursue either public career path (Canada) which meant I'd be limited to Canada or pursue private F100 experience (w lower pay). I chose the latter with hopes I can transfer to US one day. May be a huge mistake, will let you know in 10 years lol
