Hi everyone,

So my sister submitted her EE profile last August, her score is 475. Today she received a NOI from Ontario which stated that she may apply for Ontario PNP but that would mean she will lose her chance to be considered under FSW program.

Her profile expires on 28th July as that's the day when her IELTS certificate expires.

We want to understand whether it's worth giving a try. We know that being considered under PNP normally takes longer than being considered under FSW program. Current CRS is 483 so we think she might be able to get an invitation through FSW program soon. Her NOC appeared in OINP 5 times this year but she didn't qualify for not meeting requirements of the draw (knowledge of French, valid job offer etc).

We also do not understand why she received a NOI at this stage specificly because her profile has been in the pool for 2 years now with the same NOC and same score.

We have little understanding of how PNP works so any information will be of great help.

Thanks in advance!

Ontario just conducted an HCP Draw. That's why your sister's profile received an NOI. My score is 476 and I also received an NOI.

Furthermore, for scores of 476 and below, there is no guarantee that we'll receive an FSW ITA "soon". There are at least 5,000-8,000 candidates in the bracket of 475-480 and the Express Entry cutoff is hovering around 483. It could take several months to receive an ITA.

If OINP fee ($1,500) and the selection of province (Ontario) are not major problems for your sister, then it is recommended to go ahead with OINP.

Thanks for your reply! It seems like they have just updated the website as there was no info on today's draw when I visited it earlier.

She was initially interested in Ontario and the fee is not a problem but I heard that it is highly recommended that your profile has at least 6 months of validity if you consider applying through PNP and she has roughly 2.5 months left. How likely is it for her to be able to make it through PNP? I mean how likely is it for her to receive an invitation any time soon? Her NOC is 20012. We're feeling reluctant about letting FSW go but that's probably because we don't have a good understanding of how PNP works.

I am actually in the same boat. My profile expires soon and I am trying to collect some insight about what I should do. I have also contacted OINP through e-mail and waiting for their response. In the meantime, I'll keep collecting documents and complete my profile on the OINP e-Filing Portal till I can be sure about the next step.

Hi,

The PNP requirements may vary from one province to another. FYI, as long as you have an NOI for Ontario PNP, it doesn't matter how old your profile is.

Further, you can receive multiple invitations in a profile from the same province or others too as long as you're eligible. However, chances of getting another invitation becomes less if your profile previously received the invitation for the same PNP.

Good luck with it! Please post updates whenever you have them

Thanks for your reply! What I am trying to understand is whether this NOI is worth giving a chance considering all the facts I mentioned in the original post.

Certainly, there are pros and cons of accepting this NOI.

First and the foremost is, if you get PR being a PNP candidate then you have to serve the province for 1-2 years straight. On the other hand, being an FSW candidate you're free to move anywhere throughout Canada (except Quebec).

Secondly, if you meet the eligibility requirements and draw cut-off bracket of any PNP, ypu get invited earlier in comparison to FSW. For which waiting period isn't guaranteed.

Thirdly, for PNP route you have to bear the additional application processing costs.

Oh, thanks, that makes more sense to me now. May I ask you to clarify this one last question, too?

I was checking OINP website, these 2 links in particular:

https://www.ontario.ca/page/2023-ontario-immigrant-nominee-program-updates#section-0

https://www.ontario.ca/page/ontario-immigrant-nominee-program-oinp-invitations-apply

Do I understand correctly that from all the people who received a NOI, only 6 of them were invited to apply (received those 600 points) and that happened within the period falling between 22 Nov 2022 and 04 Apr 2023?

No problem.

Let me clear you here, OINP NOI and ITAs are completely two separate things used for different program streams under Ontario PNP. Also, don't get confused with the ITA term as it's different from the federal ITA.

Particularly, the NOI system is for the express entry candidates whereas the OINP ITA system is for the non-express entry candidates with having a job offer, work experience or study in Ontario.

I hope this would help you to understand.

Oh, I see. So basically those two links I posted earlier have nothing to do with each other, right?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is as follows:

1. You get a NOI,
2. You apply for Ontario PNP (which basically means you can no longer be selected for other PNPs and FSW),
3. You wait until you get a provincial ITA/provincial nomination which gives you extra 600 points, but nobody knows when you will get it or whether you will get it at all,
4. You get an ITA during the following draw and you apply based on the general procedure.

Is this correct?

Correct.

1. Yes
2. Your express entry profile is always open to other provincial and/or federal ITA untill the nomination (600 pts), even though your OINP application is under process.
3. The standard process time for OINP is 30-60 days
4. Yes

Hi All,

After the draw announcement, how long does it take to get the Invitation from the OINP?

I met the eligibility of the draw which happened on 15th August, under the employer job offer - in-demand skill stream, however, I haven't received any email notification or invitation from OINP. I got to know about the draw from their website. Will it take a week to get any email from them or the invitation? Thanks In advance.
