It’s a difficult question to answer. In a nutshell, nobody knows because there are many factors that are in play. From all indications, your father is still in the process of getting his PR. Until he gets it, processing your application will not start. I will be surprised if you get to Canada earlier than 2026.

I am not scaring you and I pray that your processing becomes faster. All the best.
No my father already got accepted in the refugee claim. His lawyer said it can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months but I want to know what the average processing time is.

If the dependent medical has expired while application is still in process do they ask them to redo it?

That is for your father to become a Permanent Resident. The lawyer is right. It could also take more that 18 months. I have seen people that theirs took 36 months and counting.

However, that’s for your father. Your own case, being a dependent, is totally different.

I think that part of the changes made towards faster processing of PR applications, for in-Canada applicants, is that expired medicals are accepted. No need to redo it.

The processing time of dependant of protected person PR is 45 months that is 3 years 9 months. It was posted on IRCC website on August 9, 2023. Please go and look at it on the IRCC website.

Even if he included us in his PR application? Aren’t we supposed to obtain PR together?

Their application is already 30 months gone. I am sure you will soon start getting regular communications from the visa office. Conclusion of their processing is near. All the best.

Only if you’re in what is called Pilot Program. Otherwise, he will get PR first while your application will be handled by your visa office which is outside Canada. The visa office depends on where (country) you’re from.
