I received a GCKey update notification yesterday about a new message in my account and it’s a ‘Request Letter’. I guess it’s a passport request but there’s nothing else in my email that confirms that PR is approved.

The letter says I should submit my package (passport, photo etc.) to the nearest VAC. When I tried to search for VACs in India, there are only these options for visa categories - TRV, study visa, work visa, PR travel document.

I would like to know:
1.) Is this Request Letter from GCKey account the same as PPR?
2.) Which visa category must I choose for my passport package to be sent to VAC? PRTD?

Any insights/help would be appreciated!

Damn! So many PPR/RFV's today! Congratulations.

What you got is a PPR letter. What @chandigarh and I got was a RFV. IRCC can send outland applicants either:
1. PPR letter - shows up in GCKey with a new message in my account.
2. RFV - shows up as an email, but we get no PPR letter in our GCKey.

I can understand the confusion, went through the same myself too when I saw RFV but nothing was updated in my GCKey.

About categories for VAC, it is borderline embarrassing, but I don't really remember what I selected. I'll look it up today and get back to you.

Phew! That’s good to know, thanks! I can now stop obsessing over GC Key status updates haha.

Please let me know the appropriate visa category and I’ll then proceed with the next steps. Most places online say that PRTD is for those who already hold PR status because the application form asks you to prove residency requirement fulfilment. So, I’m a little confused about this category and the other 3 don’t seem to apply here.

My spouse said, I picked PR: Family class, Sponsorship as option. I still haven't gotten time to look it up, but I'll definitely do it today.

Hi All,

I am CEC candidate with ITA -Nov 23rd 2022
AOR - Jan 16th 2023
MEP & BIL - Feb - 27th 2023
Tracker says background not started rest all completed, called IRCC on March 15th they mentioned Eligibility and Criminality passed, security not started.

Can I know how long does security takes and how far am I from final decision?

anyone with same timelines got any update or ppr?

Thanks,

What does this mean? Did you get a PPR?
It says "Your application for permanent residence has been approved" first thing in the document I received so I believe my PR is approved. But because I am already in Canada I don't think there is a PPR for any inland applicants? It basically is a different process for inland applicants to get COPR.

I am not sure what you mean by approval? I received the portal 1 email this morning, and replied in the evening if this is what you are asking.
