I really hope its because of this BIG THING they are doing and they approve all of us soon -

At the end of last year, the IRCC was processing more than two million immigration applications, including those seeking work and study permits and those seeking permanent residence. CARLOS OSORIO/Reuters

The federal government is considering extraordinary measures to reduce its backlog of immigration applications, including waiving eligibility requirements for nearly half a million visitor visas, according to a policy memo reviewed by The Globe and Mail.

A draft document dated December reveals that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is seeking to significantly reduce or eliminate its backlog of visitor visa applications by February and is prepared to take “aggressive action” to do so. As of early December, there were more than 700,000 temporary resident visa (TRV) applications in the system, part of the total.

In total, more than two million immigration applications were being processed at the end of last year, including those seeking work and study permits and those applying for permanent residence. IRCC is concerned the stockpile is undermining “public confidence” in the department, the memo said.

According to the memo, IRCC is considering two options to reduce the number of visitor visa applications. In the first, the department would process an estimated 195,000 applications in bulk. This could include a large number of tourists from countries that require visas to visit Canada.

Under the second option, Immigration Secretary Sean Fraser would waive certain eligibility requirements for approximately 450,000 applications. As other efforts are being made to clear the TRV backlog, this decision would apply to all remaining applications.

By waiving admission rules, foreign nationals would not have to prove they will leave Canada when their visa expires.

OQUOTE="manojkapri, post: 10332706, member: 1032599"] was wondering if the message had to do anything with the glitch. And if it's real or not...
Nothing on my emails so far. I have used the new portal not sure if that makes it different.

Our visitor application still in the system. I think this glitch only affects applications that are filed within a certain period. We applied on December 26, 2022.

I called IRCC automated system (IVR) to check the application status. They confirmed that application is approved and we should check online account for next steps. Now the problem is there is nothing on the online account. Hope they fix this issue soon.

If anyone is interested in knowing their application status, please call following phone number from a canadian phone number:
+1(888)242-2100

Keep following information handy:
1. UCI No. (Available on biometric request letter)
2. Application No. (Available on biometric request letter)
3. Year of birth of applicant

Good Luck !
