Arrived Service Canada Oakville today by 7:29am and was the first in line. I did not have an appointment.
The office opened by 8:30am and those with 8:30am appointments were called in first.
I was called in next at 8:33am.
From the security guard to the officer at the entrance to the officer who took my application, everyone was very orderly, polite and professional.
The officer pointed out a little colouring issue (a pink streak in the white background) with one of my kid's passport photos, then she checked the 2nd photo and saw that it was fine, so she said she would leave a note to say that the 2nd photo was okay and ask that they fix/ignore the issue.
It was a family application 2 adults and 1 kid. She said I should expect the passports in the mail in 5 - 7 weeks.
I was done and out by 9:07am.
The officer kept explaining to me that her computer was having some kind of system delays, I believe I would have been done sooner.

What is the mail out date and did they say that they are running late on mail outs?

The estimated mail out date on the receipt is May 4, 2022.
She did not mention running late on mail outs.
At the beginning she said I should get the passports in 5 - 7 weeks, but at the end, she said 5 weeks.
I am going to wait 3 weeks and then call just to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Just to let you know, someone was told to expect the passport April 6th, and they were told today basically their file is still in examination, and there is no note on their file that it will be finished by April 6th. I don't think their expected date means much if anything, but I hope it's 5 weeks for you. I applied by mail, and today I entered the 7th week. I don't think there is much difference between applying in person in service Canada and mail-in in terms of processing time.

I applied in-person yesterday at a Service Canada (non passport office).
I have overseas travel booked for 30th April & the clerk noted that on my application

Has anyone else done an in-person application at a non-passport application with travel booked? Will I get passport in time?

I applied without a travel booking, and they are expected to mail our our passports after 4 weeks. Add another week to have them delivered.
I assume you should have yours in time, as they are able to deliver urgent passports within a day, or even a few hours.

I am not in a hurry really, I can't travel even if I want to (unjabbed). I applied in person because I did not want to send out any of my originals, so they can take all the time they need.
Although the moment travel restrictions are lifted, I am out of here.

Why didn't you apply at passport office express? Your travel is in less than 25 business days. It you submitted regular file, good luck getting your passport before June.

Yes it is a fair question
I was told over the phone when setting up my appointment that my local Service Canada could do express - which was not the case.
I am 2 hours from nearest passport office which is why I went with the advice of the person I spoke to

Eventually you will have to transfer your file to the local passport office. I submitted my file more than 6 weeks ago, and still waiting. So, when they told you you could get it by April 30th, it's a stretch.

I was under impression that even at Service Canada office we can ask for 10 days express passport if there is travel plan in next 25 business days.

Is it not the case?
