I hope you don't have travel plans in the near future and be ready for a long and frustrating wait. I couldn't get through to an agent. The wait time is 2+ hours on the phone.
Did not make plans but will make it as soon as I get it. Its not urgent per say but I was hoping this would be quick after waiting 1.5 years for the citizenship

Passport Canada doesn't understand this. Make plans and then get your passport. That's how they work. In reverse logical order. It took me 27 months to get my citizenship, and now the wait for the passport. It may seem not a long wait, but combined with the citizenship wait, this wait is like the last straw. I am tired of being treated like "low priority". I also had plans to travel in April once I get my passport, but apparently applying with more than 20 business days means you have no plans, and your application is not a priority. Now my hope to get my passport in April feels like just a wishful thinking.

Also BC and still waiting, 25 business days tomorrow. No CC charge. When I talked to them yesterday, file was still under examination. Same old story.
My suggestion is to file a complaint. If their processing time was 40 business days, no one would say anything before that time has passed. But after 20 business days, the advertised time, you have the right to object and complaint. I expect them to meet their processing time. I filed a complaint today, and suggest you to do the same.

Then apart from these advantages it should be almost the same as in mail application. Thanks!
These advantages are no small. Not having your certificate and passport delay is anxiety-inducing. If the certificate is lost, it would take 15 months to re-issue it. Also, I think in Service Canada you application is opened immediately and a file number is assigned to it, which means they start working on it immediately. For mail applications it takes 3 weeks to open and start working on it, and they don't have to finish it at any specific time, because they don't give you a maximum time as with Service Canada.

To all that are waiting for your passports, I feel you guys. I am still waiting for mine as well. The whole process for passport definitely needs a huge rebuild for efficiency and transparency. Wish all of us all the best!
The only thing I am asking is for passport Canada to commit to their advertised processing time. When they say it's 20 business days, then they should process applications in 20 business days. If applications take longer these days, they should update the processing time. If they said 40 business days, and I applied Feb 22nd, then I would be OK. But saying 20 business days, and it's been 30 business days for me, then this is not acceptable. IRCC just today changed their processing time for citizenship from 12 months to 27 months. Had they changed it earlier, they would have spared many applicants (me included) from the pain and anxiety of why their applications were taking so long, much longer than 12 months. It's not a shame to admit of a new reality, but it's a shame to keep putting false processing times just for positive advertisement.

Can we do anything about this! i mean someone needs to raise the voice! We can send email to Sean Fraser (Minister, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship). Should we do that?

I'm from BC and my CC still hasn't been charged. I submitted the app on Feb 21 and delivered on Feb 24.
Please contact https://www.seanfrasermp.ca/ (Minister). This is not acceptable. I am not going outside of Canada and I cannot go outside of Canada are two different things!

Did you put a travel date on your application? If not, probably they will put aside to collect dust, the dust your citizenship application didn't collect at the Montreal office. At the mark of 20 business days, file a complaint. Do not hesitate for one more day.

I got myself in a whole pile of trouble and hoping you guys have some ideas to help. Booked trip early March to Florida, realized the same day my son’s passport had expired. Drove to Saskatoon the next day only to find out passport renewal is now only done by appointment. Had to go online to request a phone call to make an appointment(promised return call in 2 days). After a week I’m panicking because it is now March 20 and no appointment yet. Decided to send in mail, our trip/flight leaves on the 17th of April. FedEx overnight service turned into 5 days. Tonight my wife tells me she sent our passports with the my son’s application! She thought they had to be sent as well. So I’m 2 weeks away from leaving what should I do?? If I wait will I get our passports in time? Do I try and stop the process and get them returned and then pay for my son’s as urgent at Service Canada? Declare the 3 passports lost and pay for 3 urgent passports at Service Canada? I’m sick to my stomach.

Just a week or two ago they allowed walk-in for urgent processing if you are traveling in next 2 business days. But you already applied by mail. If the passport was new, I would have said no chance. But not sure for renewal. Maybe they will process it quicker. The best thing to do is to call them and explain your situation to an agent.

I called today to ask if there is some issue with my application, and was told it's still under examination and so far nothing is requested, but "it's too early" to tell if there is something wrong, and was asked to call back again in 2-3 weeks if I don't receive my application. What this implies is that they are not working on my application for some reason.

I asked if there is an expected date when my application will be finalized, I was told "we don't know because we have too many applications because of covid" BS. Of course what she means is too many applications that are more important than yours because they decided to book a ticket before applying for a passport, something I should have done myself to put them on the spot. Applying by mail 2 months before my travel's date was a HUGE mistake.

My application was received Feb 22nd, 40 days ago. I cannot believe this  Based on the conversation I had with the agent today, I don't expect to receive my passport anytime soon, not even by the end of April, and my certificate is with my application, which means I don't have anything that proves I am Canadian now

Let's see if my complaint will do anything. I don't expect much from them to be honest. Their quality of service is very poor.

Someone's passport issued today in 5 hours the same day, urgent processing. This proves there isn't much to issuing a passport
When I went for in person pick up, I saw someone whose passport page (the most important one with personal info) was not printed properly. The agent told them to come after 30 minutes and they picked up a new booklet just after 20-25 minutes or so.

I don't say this to discourage you but just to be honest. I suspect you're screwed and would investigate cancelling the trip. I would be suprised if there was anything you could do at this point to fix it - you can call and wait on the line, but I doubt you're going to have any success. Sorry.

What would happen if my details were not printed correctly and I receive it by mail? Do I have to mail it again or I can go to the nearest passport office to correct it? Mailing an application is a nightmare, literally. Honestly all governmental services are a nightmare in Canada these days.

I called them today as well. Requested to send back my citizenship certificate as I have an appointment coming up in a week to surrender my existing passport where I need to present it. They said my file has an ETA up to end of this month so I’m not getting my passport anytime sooner. :(
