HI,

I am curious to know how the CIC returns documents (with originals)?
My husband is in Pakistan, I am sponsoring him from Canada.
Will CIC return all originals to him via post or is there an alternate method? We are concerned at the state of posting mail in Pakistan and the important nature of these documents as some are originals.

Each visa office is different, but when my husband's pr was approved, he dropped off his passport in the morning, and in the afternoon when he went to pick it up, they had all contents of the application in a bag for him, minus the actual document forms.

Hi

It's hit or miss. Some offices return some stuff to some applicants, while some offices don't return anything. You can contact the VO and request that they return your original documents.

Once the final decision will be made and after sending you PPR1, the LVO will return you all your originals.

Since sponsor files the spousal sponsorship application to CIC, therefore all originals are returned to Sponsor.

What kind of originals did you send? Vo are all different they may not send anything back. May be if they asked you for your original passport or your original marriage certificate . I am going through London i know i wont get anything back .

Not correct, LVO sends back all originals via Islamabad VO to Pakistani applicants once decision is made. Otherwise one can always request LVO for the same.

I think the difference here is that Pakistani nationals need to submit original marriage certificates and originals for most other documents (possibly due to the high rate of fraudulent documents? Not sure), whereas other nationals going through London (such as British or other Europeans) send in copies of those documents. They seem to return the originals, but not the copies.

Thank you Miles away +1 . I was trying to say that they may not send the whole package back with photos etc but Passports and original stuff yes.
