The RBC Royal Bank Scholarship for New Canadians was created for students who have been through the Canadian immigration process. Recognizing how immigration has shaped Canada’s cultural, social, and economic development, the scholarship rewards the efforts of students who have succeeded academically while simultaneously adjusting to life in a new country.

The scholarship is designed to encourage students to share what they have learned from their Canadian immigration experience and to communicate their views on how immigration has shaped the country.

Seven $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school or CEGEP students who plan on attending an accredited Canadian university or college this fall. Applicants must have been born outside of Canada and be either Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents. Recipients will be chosen based on academic achievement and three essays on the impacts of immigration in Canada.

Applications are due July 5, 2007 and can be completed at www.rbcroyalbank.com/scholarships/newcanadians/index.html.
