How long did it take for people to receive their e-certificates?

Hi all,

I swore my oath and sent in my documentation on September 28th. My online tracker notes that everything was completed on October 5th. I still haven't seen my e-certificate. How long did it take others to receive their certificate. I'd like to apply for a passport as I'm travelling in December.

Thanks in advance,

C1A

Did you check the portal to see if your e-certificate is available or not?

Thanks for the response. When I applied there was a message saying "you'll receive an email with instructions on how to receive your e-certificate when it is ready". I haven't seen anything in the IRCC portal and I haven't received any emails saying it's ready.

Is it the same portal you use for PR?

https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signup?lang=en -> Signup on this portal and for which you will need invite code
Generate the same using the link -> https://ircc.canada.ca/visit-visiter/en/get-account-ircc-portal

Once you login in, you should find an option to download the e-certificate by providing the details.

Unfortunately I get "Sorry, we couldn’t create an invitation code for you. Invitation code not created: There was a technical issue."
Looks like I just have to wait. Thank you!

You can create account with another email id, it does not matter as to download the certificate you have to provide all the details again.

Thank you! It worked. I think the apple products were unhappy with the javascript. I used my work computer and resolved it. Really appreciate you taking the time to help me out :)

For anyone that has not received e-certificate yet, these are the steps I followed (after googling and looking through multiple forums). FYI I had my oath on Nov 14, 2023 and sent the signed oath form back the same day. However, I did not get the certificate till today Nov 29, 2023. I believe the officials don't receive the initial signed email that you send for some unknown reasons. Nevertheless, here are the steps I followed. Not sure if it would help your case but it definitely did mine.
1. Go to this link https://secure.cic.gc.ca/ClientContact/en/Application
2. Select 'Add a document to your application' and continue to the form
3. Fill in the details and under what did you apply for select - citizenship and under what application did you submit - grant
4. Under tell us about your request - yes, you asked me to add the document(s)
5. Under the please explain box let them know that it has been more than 5 business days since you submitted your oath and you haven't received your e-certificate and that you have attached a copy of signed oath document (see step 6 below)
6. *Important* re-attach your original submitted signed oath document
7. Review and submit your request

In my case, I received the e-certificate the next day. Good luck!

The wait time for e-certificates can vary, but some people got theirs within a few days to a few weeks after their application was complete. It's best to contact the issuing authority directly to check on the status of your certificate, especially if you need it for travel soon.
