Activity Status update: Background verification

Hello,

I am October applicant through PNP. In my case everything went well and after PAL I received ADR to submit my detailed resume. Next day I have submitted detailed resume for me and souse as stated in ADR and next day I got an update in my tracker with the below message. This status change happened on March 8th and after that no change in my application. Does this means that my application has gone for comprehensive security check. I called to IRCC and they confirmed my Biometric, Medical, Eligibility, Info Sharing, Criminality is passed and security is in progress.

Any insights on such situation please.

I got below message right next day I submitted ADR. This message I got in Activity status panel.

Background verification
Background verification status has been updated to In progress

Final decision

• Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Just give some time to IRCC to process your application. Inside applications usually take 4 months on average for application approval (if everything in your application is in order and well submitted).

My application is submitted on 12th Oct. Other application are getting eCoPR and my application is stuck in security check. So I thought of asking the details. I have ordered GCMS notes but no such updates on that.

My PR application is in process. Eligibility, info sharing, criminality all passed. Security was not started till May 9, 2024 when I got a ghost update, upon calling IRCC I got to know that my security is now in progress. I got this updated on my tracker on may 10, 2024. Upon discussing with people around, I got to know that this update only appears when the application goes tor enhanced screening and it can take up to a year or even more to get cleared. I’m really tensed about this.

Can you share you experience about this? Is it really so? Any update since then?

A lot of people whom I Know, say that it means comprehensive security screening which takes several months to be cleared, but honestly I'm not sure if such an apdate always means this.
I Hope to find someone who received same update on tracker and didn't wait too mutch before getting his/her Final Decision.

why would you be tense? as long as you havent lied to them about anything let them take all there time lol. Its one thing to lie in resume and get a job offer but its heck of a thing to lie on express entry/ pnp profile and have surprised Pikachu face once they initiates enhanced background check

I didn't lie and I have nothing to worry about but I'm anxious because of time. I'm not ready to wait for another six months or more ! That's it ! It's 100% about time, nothing more !

Yes, this is absolutely only about waiting time. Getting PR within 1-2 months vs 12-14 months makes a big difference in life. Especially about career plan, settling down, traveling back and forth to homeland and parents, these types of very important things depend on this timeline.

Well, I am also in the same situation and my background check started on 8th March and since then no update. I am not sure what is the criteria for this. I travelled many countries and initially I thought it could be due to that. However, in watsapp group I could see there are applicant who did not travel and studied in Canada and doing job and their application also gone to security check.
ryanira2 and Medmar are correct. There is no timeline defined for security check and I know people in my watsapp group waiting from past 1 year and I believe this is not fair.

This is insane. It's anything but express entry. we should call it snail entry!
