    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

If you allow me to take part in the discussion. Have you read the recommendations of the Office of the Auditor General concerning protected persons and reunification with their dependents? It is a huge report that included several recommendations concerning protected persons and reunification...

    Refugee hearing/NOD

This is really strange. What I read here is that it will reach you within 2-3 weeks up to 2-3 months maximum. Did you try to call them? The process is slow in all transactions, but still your case is unusual. Try to reach out to them, call them, send a webform, etc. Good luck!

    Please advise

Since you have the RTD, I think that you should be able to return to Canada. I don't understand why you feel so worried about it. You are not here because you have a valid open work permit, you are here because you are a person protected by the Canadian government under the Canadian law. I think...

    Please advise

You can apply to renew your work permit before it expires. You can do this online and it is free so long as it has not expired. I think you can apply for the RTD and at the same time apply to renew your work permit. Please read in this forum there is useful resources on how to apply for renewal...

    Please advise

Sorry for your loss. You can apply for an RTD on an urgent basis and if you can include any evidence that you need it urgently, sometimes it is issued within 2 weeks. Try to read about the documents needed for applying for an RTD and apply immediately.

    Travelling

You need to apply for a Schengen visa. I read here that some protected persons in Canada who travelled using an RTD without PR did the same and travelled to Switzerland but were find because they did not have a visitor visa. For Germany and Italy no visa is needed, but this is not the case for...

    Refugee Travel Document Processing Time

Hi there.. Are you a protected person? Do you mean by your passport your home country passport? If so, please be careful not to try to use it or renew it, otherwise you will risk losing your status and everything you have done so far!!!

    Questions about front-end security screening

Thank you Simba for replying on all the questions. Regarding the last point, it is confusing. Having a lawyer should logically mean that the claim is addressed properly and that the lawyer would follow up attentively and carefully. However I heard several horrible stories about how lawyers...

    Questions about front-end security screening

Hello everyone.. I hope you are all doing well.. I have questions please regarding the front-end security screening (IRB): 1. How long does it usually take to conclude this step? 2. Does it take longer for certain countries? 3. Having a TRV, should not this mean that the FESS has already...

    Passport expired

Since Simba has not yet replied to you, allow me to reply to you.. Your son (like any other protected person) should not visit his embassy nor should he has any dealings with the government of his home country from which you have sought protection in Canada. No passport renewal, no dealings with...

    Travelling with refugee travel document.

Ok man go visit your fiancé but don't stay outside Canada for a long time. If you are employed and if you care about keeping your job, it won't be a good idea to spend a long time away. Maybe it is better, just a suggestion from me, to go away for let's say 3 weeks or maximum one month (if your...

    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

I read yesterday something which I hope will be good for refugee claimants. I read that IRB has been allocated an additional funding, hopefully to address the increasing backlog. I hope that this means that additional resources will be added by IRB to help in determination of the referred...

    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2023 Timeline

Hello Ali, Thank you for sharing your timeline, very detailed indeed. It is sad that it took too long from the time you applied until the file was referred to IRB, almost 8 months from the date you applied. Hopefully you will hear good news soon and that it will not take a long time with IRB...

is anyone else still waiting for RTD?

Yeah.. it seems that everywhere the rule is there is no rule... whether for refugee claims, PR, citizenship, RTD, etc. Nothing standard.. some will take a long time, others will be luckier and will get it within a considerably shorter timeframe. Good luck guys!

is anyone else still waiting for RTD?

Sad to hear that sister, I read before here in the forum that the process for obtaining RTD would take almost 1-2 months.. especially if you send IRCC a webform that you have an urgent travel.. The backlog is terrible for all transactions, over 2.1 million applications with the same resources :(
