Employers in Saskatoon Better Equipped to Hire Immigrants

the CanadaVisa Team - 18 July, 2015

An immigration office will be opening in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 15, 2007 as part of the provincial government’s plan to develop, attract, and retain its workforce. The immigration office will provide support for Saskatoon employers interested in hiring immigrants. Additionally, it will provide assistance and information to providers of integration services for newcomers.

Conveniently, the new office will be co-located with the Can-Sask office, where employers are matched with job-seekers. Pat Atkinson, the Minister responsible for Immigration in Saskatchewan expects that the tools available at the immigration office will help the Saskatoon business community address its labour force needs. “This is a significant step in providing improved access for employers and community stakeholders to immigration and settlement programs across the province.”

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), which allows the province to select candidates for immigration to Saskatchewan, was used by over 170 Saskatoon employers in 2006-2007.
