Would Opening a New Business in Canada Count Towards PR and Citizenship?

Hello,
I currently live in U.S and I may be getting my Canadian PR anytime soon. I have plans to open a LLC in Canada and I will be the sole owner of my business. Say if I open my LLC in Canada, file my taxes and do the necessary legal work and continue my work in the U.S, would that meet the requirements of PR?

PR is given for a period of 5 years out of which the applicant is expected to stay in Canada for 2 years. Does that mean that I have to physically stay there or would the fact that I have opened an LLC count towards the "stay period" for my Canadian PR and citizenship.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Vijay

You do need to physically stay in Canada. They do allow you to keep your PR if you are working for a Canadian company that has transfered you to another country but if you yourself start a company to transfer yourself out of the country to keep your PR, that will not work.
