Hello everyone,

My file is in process since January 2016 and my WP and Visa is expiring next month. Should I apply for new work permit since my application is in process.

Thanks

Yes...you can apply for BOWP using the AOR you have received after submitting the application PR using Express entry. With this you can legally stay and work for the same employer untill decision for BOWP or PR is taken even after your current Visa/WP has expired under implied status. Good luck

Hi my Work Permit expires on 26 June. I have applied for BOWP on 10 April and as yet have not received a response.

I suggest that you apply for your BOWP as soon as you have submitted your PR application and received your AOR. I wanted to wait till I passed the 2 months since AOR date. I subsequently got my CGMS Notes and found my R10 is 'OK' and I have Eligibility as 'Met'.

Its best not to leave these things till the last moment.

The strange thing however is I have seen a couple of people on the forum who applied for BOWP after me and it has been approved already. I really don't understand how the BOWP processing works.

Personally I would apply for BOWP in the last week before the WP expiration. One of my friend did the same thing and his BOWP was processed even though he got his CoPR. He had another month for his WP to expire but still CIC processed his BOWP even though they issued him a CoPR. The waiting time for BOWP when he applied was 4 months. Sometimes CIC processes your BOWP/visa faster to get your money.

Hi JK_CAD, thanks for your feedback on your friends case. I understand what you are saying.

I just did not want any uncertainty and want to ensure I can continue to work so I can pay my rent and meet my living expenses so I thought I should apply ASAP. As for the money, I have paid the 'Processing Fee' and the 'Work Permit Fee' upfront to ensure that the VO is not waiting for my fees to ensure my application is hopefully processed more promptly. Let's see what happens.

I agree that you should not wait till the last moment as well. I would rather complete the online application, have paper work ready and wait for the last week to submit the application and pay the fees. No one would want to be in the situation where you have to get deported coz of your silly mistake. I learned this from hearing a couple of cases of sharing the same with you guys. I hope that helps someone around :).

Consider this... for ex. 1 BOWP application costs around 100$ so for 10 such similar cases in a month they will get 1000$ just to approve your application when you are near to getting your PR itself.
